cypher, you're getting way too pissed at people who don't especially like your movie. Just because its your first try doesn't mean they should automatically like it, considering its your first try they probably shouldn't. You shouldn't open up a new program, mess with it for 2 hours, and get a fan trailer made with divine grace. You're telling us not to make comments on your movie, not to bash the music. What we're doing is making suggestions to improve it. You can have guitar solos show the seriousness of the situation. Overall, use Halo music. That's like the music from Fable or Oblivion, its RPG. It's mystical. There is better music, music from Halo, that will fit this completely. Why I sound a bit pissed is because you're getting mad at people for giving you critcism. They did it the nice way, and since you got annoyed with them for it, I'm going to give it to you upfront.
1. The music. It's not Halo, it doesn't fit.
2. Use another font besides the Halo font. The Halo font is good for writing the word "Halo" with and nothing else. Bungie doesn't use it in their trailers, they use normal fonts (usually all capitals, keep in mind).
3. Most trailers include NO words. Yours includes a lot. Take some of that text out, its way overdone. The spacing in time between the words doesn't even help, because overall words just take away. The message should be sent through the video. I like the "In the beginning" text, but after that it was just too much. Maybe it could just be "In the beginning..." and then show a bunch of clips from Halo 1, slowly speeding up until it goes super fast, one picture per second sort of thing. Then a flash and it fades into Delta Halo. Then something like "Now, you're mankinds last hope." You don't need more text than that!! If we're seeing your trailer, we know what Halo is. Text overlaps video. We want to see the video, not text.
4. Also, everyone loves the badass line "Master Chief, would you mind telling me what you're doing on that ship?" "Sir, finishing this fight."
I enjoyed your trailer, I really did, but you need to not get annoyed with people who say they dislike your work. I get it all the time. I once made a half hour kids show parody and at first it sucked, but since I've fixed it and made it funnier and taken suggestions, I've had to increase my site's bandwidth....twice! You need to be open to suggestions. Some people will hate it, others won't. I liked it but it needs improvements. It's hard to part with what you think is right, but in the end if you're releasing it on a site like Bungie's site, you want to know what people think of it. If you're doing it your way, and its to make yourself happy, then leave it be. But posting it on here means you want some kind of feedback and you want other people to appreciate your work. So change your work, because in the case of posting it here, you're showing it to us to grade. Its like writing in a diary, you write for yourself. But if its an essay, you do it the way the teacher wants cause you're getting graded. And now you're getting graded, so go back and make revisions.
