without Halo 2 there would be no Halo 3.
at least there's one thing you like about it lol

I ♥ Bungie!

I think Reach was but yeah it's thier opinion.

  • 06.05.2012 2:34 PM PDT

I find it harder and harder to accept the people who made something as great as Halo 1,2,ODST, and even 3...could create the pure evil that is Reach. Halo 2 was a pinnacle of competitive gaming, and after Reach they put their fingers in their ears, and ignored us like a bunch of little children. Yes Bungie, as it turns out Armor Lock isn't as competitive as you thought,no?

Don't forget that as radical as the changes are too Halo 2 for the online community, Bungie is more looking at the entire game as a whole. Campaign, Multiplayer, Competitive etc - not just online aspect of it. In fact, I would bet that they put more emphasis on the story line more than anything else.

In fact, don't forget that Halo 2 was actually the Halo game with the most online glitches/game mechanics that were interrupted - as fun as they were to use.

You make out with midgets.

Halo 2 is by far the best. This is especially true for multiplayer. Someone from Bungie is obviously on crack. Or has a brain degenerative disease.

Do you agree with this?

Bungie doesn't always know what they are saying or doing.
Think back to Halo 2, where Bungie thought SMG start would make good weapon balance. Even after MLG showed how a competitive game should be set up, they continue the same pattern with Halo 3.

So true. The best things about Halo 2 were the glitches. It only proves the game sucked. The super bounces were extreemely easy. Every one of my friends could land super bounces in game. How many of them could land stump jump in Halo 3 or could hit PBTW on Ghost Town? Hardly any even with dozens of tries in custom games. Halo 3 jumps took a lot more skill and thankfully that game had better maps and smaller hitboxes which inceased the skill gap. Halo 3 is a much better game in terms of multiplayer.

Fair enough.

I do agree with it, actually. Halo 2 was my least favorite of all the Halos in both terms of campaign AND multiplayer. Blasphemy? Perhaps. But I'm sticking to it. It was too Battle Rifle centered, glitches galore, and I didn't much care for the art style.

True. Often, I can barely tolerate playing H2, though this is mostly due to H2 Vista being a fail port.

Superjumping and multiple bugs is not what a company wants in a game. Granted, what a company thinks is good and what a player does is debatable.

Oh, the amount of BR usage is pretty annoying, but I use it less than the BR in H3, or the DMR in Reach.

Halo 2 is like thrice as good on xbox than PC. And yes, I had to make up a word to describe how better H2 is on xbox.

EDIT: Why are people talking about skillful jumps? My brain hurts.

I heard one Bungie employee state, "Halo 2 is a lot like Halo 1, except it's Halo 1 going 130 MPH on fire through a hospital zone, being chased by ninjas. Oh, and the ninjas are on fire, too."

So... How can Bungie NOT love Halo 2? How could ANYBODY not love Halo 2?

In other words, it's epic.

It's too bad 343 doesn't seem to recognize it, saying they wanted to return to the epicness of H3 IIRC.

Bungie obviously didn't play Halo 3's multiplayer... which I figured as much because I've played Halo 3's multiplayer.

The franchise's reputation was built on competitive multiplayer. Halo 3 had the worst competitive multiplayer in the series. Therefore, Halo 3 is the worst Halo in the franchise.

Halo 3 was the worst. The hitboxes were smaller and it was projectile based hit detection rather than hitscan. Both of which take much more skill than Halo 2's giant hitboxes and hitscan detection. However, that was completely negated by the pure randomness of the BR which was never fixed making outcomes random. Not only that, but Bungie botched the melee TWICE! The first one gave the lesser skilled, slower player credit for the kill and then post patch everybody died no matter what the circumstances. Nothing about it made sense. Therefore, Halo 3 was the least competitive. While H2 didn't take near as much skill as Halo 1, it was still a game you could improve at even if the focus wasn't on aiming. In Halo 3, no matter how accurate you personally were, the accuracy of those second and third shots were completely random.

While many of you were too young to notice, people who were old enough instantly realized the game had no real ending.

Pretty sure everyone with the ability to comprehend spoken words and had a memory knew that.

Black Ops 2 I run two accounts warmup only at 1.97kdr...real is at 3.77. i'm in master division 4 league play. pm 4 clan inv...must have 2.5 kdr or better

While Halo 2 is not nearly as good as Halo 3 and I've been told Halo 1 was the best (never played Halo 1 in prime), I still think that Reach is the worst. I think Bungie did a lot right in features, but gameplay wise it's a complete disaster.

EDIT: woops, didn't realize I posted here before.

Bungie actually hired monkeys to produce Halo Reach's multiplayer. Well, monkeys in human suits, who were hired by Microsoft to produce future Halos and maintain current ones. I heard they call themselves 343 Industries.

And the worst is Reach's. Your argument is based on small, very opinionated issues. Reach has huge lists of features hated almost unanimously.

What's this idea of "it was Battle Rifle centered."

Hey doofus, every Halo game is centered around ONE weapon.

Halo 1 - Pistol
Halo 2 - BR
Halo 3 - BR
Reach - DMR

Halo 4 will be different than those because of custom loadouts, but pinpointing out as to why Halo 2 did not work is because of the Battle Rifle being the primary go-to weapon is seriously ignorant.

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Account Status: Silver :(

This, I don't even. You know what, this requires correction!

Halo 1 - Balanced
Halo 2 - BR, Sword
Halo 3 - Sniper, BR, and AR
Reach - power weapons

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

I disagree. Halo 2 was unfinished and it was still infinitely better than Reach.

I was just playing it today. I still enjoy the campaign 8 years later. Reach was stale after the first playthrough.

It does suck that Microcawk set such a ridiculous deadline. I often wonder how much better Halo 2 would have been if it had been finished. Excuse me, I have to go wipe the drool from my mouth.

I beastify with the DMR!! Paridiso and Hemmorage are my hunting grounds!!

I dont understand this hate with Reach. Have you forgotton how good forge in Reach is compared to H3? Come on people OMG the Battle Rifle killed halo GRRRR:/. Its a good weapon just like the rest ive been killed by ar and smg at close range so its not way op as everyone thinks. And this rage with Armourlock wow they stop moving while in AL. In a way they are just delaying their inevitable death. If it saved you from a tank round then so what. In my opinion halo 1 was great cause it was something new. Halo 2 had a more in depth story, covanant politics, what earth is like, the covanant citys, the forerunners. halo 3's online was the best and halo reach is one of the best shooters out. In my opinion ODST was the worst. I now just wish i had halo 2's campaign, microsoft should release it for games on demand. Because of one fact people like myself will by it because its not the online i miss, the online isnt much different to reach and h3, its the story and halo 2's story is unlike any other. I got h2 for pc but there is a bug which makes it unplayable. There arn't any on ebay so im officioally Blamed

haven't forgotten and i agree, BUNGiE did a good job with forge 2.0, we shall see if 343 Industries surpasses with forge 3.0 in Halo 4 (assuming forge will return)

Sabotaged at the same time; each time you select or place an item, you get moved back IIRC.

The mp problem with the BR in H2 was the button combos. In campaign, missing a burst could cost you, as Elites actually stayed in cover instead of running out charging like in H3 and Reach. Also, I found the range to be limited, but not unbearably limited like H3's BR spread.

Posted by: Squiggle live
And this rage with Armourlock wow they stop moving while in AL. In a way they are just delaying their inevitable death.
That's not a good thing. H3 may have had more ways to do that (bubble shield, regenerator), but they were not impossible to breach and H3 also had this thing called strafe (and CE and H2 had an even better strafe).

A real strafe is badly needed in Reach.

I never use armor lock. Even when fighting multiple Ultra Elites on Heroic. Though not shown in the video, typically, I can dodge their shots by adding crouch to "strafing". This won't work well on Legendary since the projectile speed gets faster/player gets even slower.

Posted by: Squiggle live
In my opinion halo 1 was great cause it was something new.
H1 is appreciated because that's when gameplay was fast and the campaign wasn't short, limited, or cheap.

Posted by: Squiggle live
Halo 2 had... what earth is like
Yeah for 2 missions (3 if we include Cairo).

Posted by: Squiggle live
In my opinion ODST was the worst.
I thought ODST had a good story and cutscenes. You must mean gameplay. It's incredibly cheap for Chieftains to activate Invincibility right before they're hit with rockets... which was the only noticeable AI improvement in ODST. Also, marines barely appeared and the only interesting thing about Mombassa Streets are the Engineers and dead Elites.

Posted by: Squiggle live

Agreed.
