no, he means the big blob that killed keyes could be gravemind. That is possible.

That big blob didn't kill Keyes, it was Keyes.

Well it was the captain formerly known as Keyes, and it also used to be an Elite.

That would be a really boring twist if you ask me. It turns out that this gargantuan, timeless, all-knowing, immortal entity is, in actuality, just some guy who got absorbed by the flood. Ooh, aah...

Well a Flood control form is made up of several "dead guys".

Gravemind isn't captin keys, theres no way, keys has been dead 4 about 2 years and gravemind has been around 4 thousands of years, i think that it could be a forerunner possesed by a flood.

Keyes has been dead for about a month. If your going to post make sure your info is at least close to being correct.

No doubt gravemind has whatever knowledge that brain form got from keyes. you have to understand that a flood-controlled host is no longer that host. the flood just uses the knowledge in the host for their own benefit.
so you can't say "keyes is gravemind" anymore than you can say the prophet is gravemind. gravemind and brain forms take up multiple hosts so there is no single "this person is gravemind"

good point the gravemind is just a type of flood that eats information (sorta), and really isn't a person persay. But, just like other flood he probably started out as an infection form which makes it obvious that he had to have one initial host (see my forerunner theory on page 2).

brain forms like keyes eventually turn into carriers, which means that once the information is gotten, it must be transmitted somewhere else (like to gravemind) cause the keyes form couldn't really do much if it had all this knowledge but couldn't move.
so previous hosts include forerunners, but flood probably predate even the forerunners. i doubt there was an initial host, there would have to be several in the same vicinity. 1 person can't multiply the flood if no one else is around.

All Flood forms hunt for information in their host's brain.

yes but like what was said above the info needs to be sent to an inteligent being for it to be useful (do you think some thing that walks at you when you have a shotgun is smart???)\
And by the way why would a brain form turn into a carrier? You only saw one of the brains in h1, which doesn't make sense cause u kill hundreds of carriers you think you'd see more evolving pods then. If u read the books, which i think DO paralell the story, you'd know that carriers are made from grunts and jackals cause they're too small to be combat forms.

It'd make more sense plot-wise if Gravemind is unique. I always thought of him as THE Flood, not A Flood. To me the Flood is a single entity that spreads its 'arms' throught the galaxy trying to feed off biomass and knowledge. So Gravemind is the Flood, and the Flood is Gravemind. So he is the brain, the rest is his arms legs and body and life support.

the Halo found in Halo 1 is on a diferent part of the galaxy than the one in Halo 2. Gravemine is also made up of hundreds or thousand of bodies that it added to its self.

now guys relly though why didnt captain keyes just become another pathetic combat flood though

Because the Flood use important people like Keyes for Brain forms which is what you saw in H1. Check the dropships in the last MC level to see more Brain forms. Also I really doubt thats him. Alpha blew up with him on it, not to mention the Chiefs fist going through his head effectively killing him. (To be a Brain form the person is kept alive by the Flood so they can access information from their host)

It would be the twist of the millennium if Bungie somehow made Keyes be Gravemind.

yes, how would he get off halo? last time I checked, he was stuck to a large pillar with flood-tape... I also think he died... and also why would he do that???

The Arbiter came there to confisgate the ship and punched the big blob and many little ones came out (forget the name) and then the arbiter told his elites to get this thing away and off the ship and thats how it got off something I heard leading to his therory.

im just speculating i cant come up with any evidence but its just a thought ?
maybe someone can come up with any evidence

p.s i have no idea wat the heck is the fake script , i just thought it would be something bungie would do.

I was under the impression that Gravemind was very old and wise. If it was Captain Keyes, he'd only be like a year old.

  • 06.08.2006 6:49 PM PDT

Fight hard, break bones >{o

why it cant be

1)keyes was on the Halo Master Chief blew up in Halo1
2)master chief punched his face in to get something, i forget what, codes or something

Its a viable theory...

First off the flood absorbed keyes' knowledge and as far as a brain goes it was non existant at that point because any level of consciousness at that point in the absorption of keyes brain was almost gone...

Second of all he held much knowledge in the ways of the current universe so the flood needed a focal point to start with and why not use a high ranking officer of the enemy with vast amounts of knowledge pertaining to future food stores (humans and covie). I am in favor of keyes being a gravemind like figure.

And the possibility of him still being alive is quite good...after we left truth and reconciliation (which was a space capable ship, mind you) there was no hint otherwise of truth being destroyed...as well as the flood form which had absorbed his mind. containing his knowledge. So...Technically the keyes we knew is dead...his mind and knowledge are still alive under the control of the flood. It would be interesting to know that gravemind was actually part of keyes conscious and was attempting to speak with cortana at the end of Halo 2.

Interesting theory....but merely a theory.

You guys obviously don't know anything about the flood. When the infection forms get into your body, they become your brain. They don't need Keyes' brain anymore, and that's why it could be possible for keyese to survive MC punching his brains in. And about him not surviving halo. If I'm not mistaken, High Charity is just outside of the ruins of Instalation 04 in a cut scene in Halo2. Who's to say Pillar of Autum destroyed everything and besides, there were flood in that heretic base which means they did get off inst. 04 alive. HA take that haters

Lol, me and my friends have this joke where we walk around screaming loudly "Gravemind is Captain Keyes". We did it in class once and my friend took a book in the face :p.

Knowledge is still power...you can't just wander around aimlessly with no objective whatsoever...THATS WHY THERE IS A GRAVEMIND...and how do we acquire knowledge through the process called learning. but unfortunetaly knowledge is not acquired by wandering about aimlessly pondering the greater intracacies of life we have to obtain that knowledge from what OH YA!...another sentient being of course; why would they need keyes' brain? again OH YA it all makes sense now...

Flood infection forms only take over the body...and then eventually the brain...sifting through the mind and seperating the usefull information from the bad. read the books they describe in detail with keyes of what happens to the mind and body during the infection of keyes
