Well, the benefit Bungie has is that we (their fans) didn't know a damn thing about H2 and we set records buying it the minute it released. Bungie will make a profit before the first bad review could be published. But no, they won't let us down.

And I'm not paying $600 for unproven, proprietary garbage even if it does bomb.

The documentary has a subtle explanation for why H2 was so short and had a cliffhanger. They knew that Halo deserved to have an epic final chapter that the original Xbox couldn't deliver. So I don't think it "bombed" so much as let us down because we expected more answers.

I think it bombed. In my opinion it was very, very bad. I can't even play it because it has so many flaws. My Halo 2 disc is in the trash because I broke it when playing frisbee with it.

Well, that's your personal opinion. It bombed with you personally then. On the whole, worldwide and industry-wide, it is regarded as rather successful.

i really doubt it that halo 3 could possibly bomb after bungie learnt all mistakes in both of the other games.
but if it did bomb i would still buy it cause its halo(also i am obsessed with halo to care if it bombs)

I'd also be interested in a rundown of the "flaws" you mentioned? Graphic-wise? Because honestly, as a programmer, I'd love to see someone make the Xbox normal map as well as Bungie did given the technical boundaries they were working with.

Simple explanation. It won't. :)

A lot of people complain Halo 2 was rushed, and the final levels were cut, and that that is now Halo 3. Thinking about it simply, without Halo 2 being rushed, it seems likely we wouldn't have Halo 3. We wouldn't have these huge maps with beautiful HDR and high poly counts. Without those final levels being cut, I don't know if this game would be here. Bungie seems to be going back to Halo 1, atleast in my mind. Microsoft isn't gonna push them around this time. Bungie is gonna deliver the best Halo experience yet. As Cortana states in the Cortana letters, "Your poet Eliot was wrong. This is how the world ends." Bungie is gonna give us one hell of a blast, and in my mind I know without a doubt it will be the best Halo yet.

What would I do if Halo 3 bombed? I would go for a ride on a rainbow and drink from a chocolate river, because doing those things is about as likely as Halo 3 bombing. And though the Halo 2 campaign may have been a disappointment with the cliffhanger ending, I'm confident in the Bungie team to bring us a great conclusion to this storyline. Besides, even if the Halo 3 campaign doesn't live up to expectations, I know the multiplayer aspect of the game will. After all, how many games besides Halo do you still play on a regular basis years after their release? Even with the launch of the 360 and some great games, Halo is still number one on XBOX Live. And that says a lot.

So...eh what were the flaws? I never saw any, if there were so many how come you have not named a single one.

Just as rpepper said, bungie wants to save the best parts for the power of the Xbox 360.

Just thinking about Halo on the Xbox 360 makes me excited. If they could make a level as big as assault on the control room on the original Xbox, just think about how big a level in H3 is going to be....=) and how detailed its going to be!=o Not to mention how many more characters and vehicles that they are going to be able to put on screen. Its just going to be epic.

Didn't Halo 2 set an all time single day sales record, then finish out at like 6mil copies?

Thats not bombing by a long shot. Most studios are lucky to get 2mil total copies sold.

I would buy H3 if I rented it and it was you playing as amonkey throwing poop around. I would buy it if it was MC taking a dump and you have to control when he turns the page in his."How to Save the World For Dummies" book

Yeah it did, one of those crazy bombs that manages to be the most played game on Xbox Live after a year and a half, despite the constant release of new titles and even the advent of a next gen console with its own library of online games.

One of those wacky bombs that grosses more in its opening day than any movie the entertainment industry has produced to date.

Major bomb.
