Subject: Why does everyone think the rules are so strict?

Not necessarily. It's because we, and read this part carefully now, don't want to keep seeing the same crap pop up again in the future.

Not as much as you'd like it to.
That's a matter of wording, not intent. The thought of repeat topics didn't even cross my mind. I was referring to the fact that the same users keep making poor quality, albeit unique, threads.

@trueunderdog

Chapter

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

This part still applies.

You aren't entitled to "good" topics by what ever metrics you want to set. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that but I'm willing to guess that a large portion of the users who feel the need to belittle others do it for the former reasons you listed, rather than the latter. It's just under the guise of trying to make this board better.

So I guess it's still, "valid."

Every forum on the internet ever has had repeat topics. They are an inevitability among discussion boards. That people are still here, even making repeat topics, shows that they still want to be here; which is something I'm perfectly fine with, given Bungie's current state of darkness.

I'm not trying to call you out specifically because I don't know why you say it, nor do I care. I am, however, calling it like I see it.

Essentially this times a thousand; it just sucks that it took a mod to say it.

You're right. When you need to compare the behavior of "everyone" (in reality a very select few members) to the behavior of SS soldiers in Dachau you're obviously emotionally uninvested in the topic.

Reductio ad Hitlerum in the first post of a topic? I think even Godwin would be surprised.

You did not read what I said, apparently; I referenced the strictness of Dachau, don't tell me we're illiterate now, too. And no, I can't say that I'm very "emotionally invested in the topic." Guilty.

But nobody cares what you want, so commenting snobbishly on how bad you think a thread is is irreverent and annoying. You find "bad" threads annoying, and I find having to listen to "hurr durr moar quality needed" annoying.

In which case I can't defend other users. Only myself. I post such things for the latter reason rather than the formers listed in that bigger post. I feel this is warranted. More like a manual version of Achronos' dream filter he always talks about- except I'm stuffing my filter down the throats of people that make threads I, personally, think are stupid.
:P

No big. Like I said, I wasn't trying to specifically call you out. Just that some people actually do what they do for the first list of reasons you mentioned.

Again, condescending attitudes on an Internet forum.

Gotta love irony.

I suppose; I was more so making a rude joke than being condescending, but I see where you're coming from. But hey, he started it.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Some people simply don't know how to comprehend disapproval or how to look at things from another angle, especially when it is their own viewpoint. They bunker down and hold their ground, refusing to budge from they think, unwilling for any other ideas or opinions to sway their own. Those type of people are the type that tend to get annoyed in a debate and tend to show it and over exaggerate.

In other words; they are stubborn. They just want everyone to agree with them and glorify what they think.

Burrito surely would agree with the above. ;)

I'm glad they're lax, to be honest. It's the only thing that keeps the Flood interesting :V

yea but some mods just give unnecessary bans when they do come around to the flood.

lol what matter? You can't/shouldn't be banned for being boring or being a moron(unless you break a rule)

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Because there are people who get annoyed very easily.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

So much it hurts.

This is no different than the rest of the childishly indignant threads that operate under the guise of discussion (the "is my opinion right" variety) but are really just of the "agree with me or else" variety.

No, the rules aren't really that strict. Yes, people are entitled to say the examples you mentioned (even if they bother someone as important as you) and express their opinions. Yes you did just engage in the exact behavior you previously accused everyone else of engaging in.

  • 05.27.2012 10:41 PM PDT

I think the rules are fine.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

Dachau was a forced labour camp where about thirty thousand people died. Find a better analogy.

... What the heck are you talking about? I never mentioned nor implied anything whatsoever about anybody getting banned for any reason in any of my posts in this thread.

Quite.

It's like people who try to draw parallels to Hitler and the holocaust over mods "carpet-banning" a thread or some other absurd and tedious little thing.

We get it. You payed attention in history class. Now have some class.

Put it this way.

I have had a normal news story locked for being NSFW when it actually wasn't it was just some 15 year being pregnant and her mum bragging.

Which then started a chain of bans over petty things. I have also been banned because the mod "Pedicted something may happen" so I was literally banned for no reason.

Thats why we think what we do. I mean nobody would like being arrested because a cop thinks your going to kill somebody and you end up in jail, so why does that logic work here?

I've always thought they were fairly lenient.

The rules aren't bad at all, in my opinion. They're all really just common sense.
