Subject: What's the point of friendly fire?

I think the world would be a much better place without it.

It has positives and negatives.

Two makes there more than speakers.

Because if there wasn't any you'd be seeing a lot more Grenades than usual.

  • 05.28.2012 12:39 AM PDT

So you have to think about where your teammates are when you toss grenades and rockets everywhere. No friendly fire is stupid and waters down the game.

While it does have its faults (accidental betrayals, team killing, etc.), it also does a lot more for the game in general than you'd think.

Without friendly fire, you'd be able to lob explosives into a firefight if even a teammate was there. With friendly fire you're forced to use your weapon or help your teammate back out of the fight so you can clean up the damaged enemies. If you don't play like this and choose to throw the explosive or fire the vehicle mortar anyway, you kill both your teammate and the enemy, which gives them a kill and/or a betrayal for you.

It's a necessary part of Halo. There just needs to be a good betrayal system in place.

I'm going to go ahead and call it that 343 removes friendly fire to "fix" teamkilling.

I do agree that it is necessary though. I think, in addition to the points you laid out already, it helps in objective to be able to kill the morons who decide they need our team to hold on the other team.

We also have to factor in the wee thing too. Occasionally once in a blue moon, an awesome betrayal happens that everyone enjoys and laughs at. Don't you dare remove my ability to accidentally betray a teammate across the map with a rolling hog tire!

What if you could damage teammates until their shields are down or their health is in the yellow. After that you can do no damage to them until they get health or shields again.

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Then you would see people sticking their teammates and having them run around the corner, blow up the enemy and survive.

Then you could still throw grenades with blatant disregard for your teammates.

It's more realistic this way.

The point is to encourage team work, it worked out for Halo 3 but Halo Reach was so bad that people just couldn't take it anymore and lost it.

I've been to Nam man, I've seen it all. You wouldn't know man because you weren't there.

Halo is a game for smart people to excel in.
So be a smart person, don't stick your friends. They die, too. The betrayal booting system isn't perfect, but as stated above, the crazy random flying-wraith betrayals never get you booted unless somebody's being an ass, and if you get teamkilled for say a sniper rifle, then you have the option to boot that betraying -blam!-.

How can you distinguish someone when the entire Reach community seems to have an IQ of no greater than 70?

It makes a player become more conscious of the entire surroundings in a battle where a more strategic approach must be used.
Rather than just allowing a player to hastily take any action without consequences degrades the game to individual battles and a disregard for teammates and a team effort to win.

So that you cant stick your buddy, he walks into enemy, and explodes. This way, you get deducted points.

Plus, if i shoot someone with a rocket, they better F****** die, teammate or enemy.

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

Because Halo shouldn't be the kind of game where this:
Teammate getting rushed by enemy with sword? Rocket them both! Problem solved....works as a legitimate strategy.
