Then give an explanation as to why there couldn't be a structure on (or in) the moon... they did after all edit an entire moon level out of Halo 2...

and for some reason i dont remember any forerunner structure shooting a huge ass light into the sky for no reason...unless it was a weapon...or it was uncovering an object in the moon

Not saying it's impossible, but highly unlikely. Maybe a structure, but certainly not a ring (c'mon people), but The Ark (which is most likely what the thing on the trailer is..you know..humans originated in Africa..)

What about the giant blue light that's not a weapon, but something used to 'talk to' other Forerunner tech (hint: end of Halo 2...Delta going into Standby mode) so it's probably getting ready to send a signal to the halos (or maybe sending it to the moon, and the moon will send it off, since the moon may be filled with a generator..(we never dug into the moon, have we?)

It would probbaly just hold a generator (like the things you need to destroy in Halo 1 with the EMP..) since there wouldn't really be a way for us to get down to the Earth after the rings are activated..

It would also explain why we wanted to go to the moon..("All sentient beings are drawn to the Forerunner Tech" --Halo 2)

Pok3mon I said mabe by not made of

Covenant can't concnetrate 1000+ ships in a certain area. Not possible.

Your right. It would be nearly impossible for anyone to fit a 1000+ ships in such a small area. Also, most of the other forums I read state there are 300 MAC guns. That means 100 more cannons to cover Earth. Also why would the covenant want to concentrate such a large attack on 1 area anyway. If anything they'd attack from all sides to confuse the humans and put them under more pressure.

I dont understand why earth is under the covenant control either. 200 mac stations surrounding the earth = one hell of a defence, plus the fleet isnt totaly lost (most probly) and besides there is still more fleets scattered throughout space which are probly on the way to assist.
With that in mind i think that close to the end of the game the remaining fleets will show up and there will be 1 huge, final battle. I realy hope theres atleast one huge battle in the game, like marty said 'we want this to be return of the king, we want this to be the final chapter in an epic trilogy'. Theres a huge battle in return of the king so hey why not have a huge battle in halo 3

A concentrated attack would hypothetically work better. If they spread out, that just allows all the MAC guns to be used. But you still can only cram so many ships in orbit around a planet.

If the covenant did take over, how did they do it? We are looking at 200 MAC stations, 10 times the amount at Reach. We're looking at devotion, this is their homeworld. We're looking at probably 400 human capital ships. There's probably a nuclear mine field as well. Unless the Covenant came in with 600+ capital ships, in which if so, we are looking at a crapload of debris in space, which I don't see.

Any explainations?

It's possible that they figured out that they could jump into a planets atmosphere. If they did that they could take out the generators powering the MAC stations, and then the covenant would only have to deal with the human ships, which would mostly be destroyers and Frigates because most of the cruisers had been destroyed in earlier battles. And I'm sure that the covenant attacked with a lot of ships.

There are a few crusiers. But, if they take out the generators, why does the Cairo still have power?

It's possible that there are several generators spread around Earth powering different groups of station. We don't know the state of Earth's defenses at the end of Halo 2. There may also be generators on the MAC platforms that provide a small amount of power, but to fire they need to draw on the ground side generators.

The covenant are awesome, while the humans are really bad in comparison. In the books, it says that it takes about 5 regular human ships to take out one covenant one, because the covenant have sheilds, better weapons, are faster, and more maneurable. In a large force, the covenant would completely own the humans. Also, Halo 3 doesn't have to start out right at that moment. It could be later on, after the humans were almost completely beaten down.

From what I understand is that the Humans were very afraid of the Covenant finding Earth. This is because they knew that they wouldn't stand a chance.

The Covenant have crushed the Humans in almost every battle, except for The Halo.

cortana: "if truth leads the fleet back to earth, they wont stand a chance..."
according to bungie the trailer takes place about a third of the way through the game, so...the covenant had plenty of time to take/overwealm earth

I put on pants for this?

and since the battle of reach, the people of earth probably thought of ways to protect the generators better than from before, like putting them underground, or a type of shield used by master chief but on a larger scale and more advanced. but none of this would matter if they used their special ships"if you just happened to read the fall of reach you might notice that very big ship that fired a pulse of white light that went straight through titanium A armor of that one ship i dont remember, and since truth's fleet is obviously larger there is a fairly good chance of 50 of those special weapons ships. and that my friends is how you take out 300 MAC guns in a very short period of time."

Well do you rember the bombs in halo 2, how the Covenant planted them in every station. Well probley 1 out of 3 stations were destroyed from the, the rest would be destroyed from the Covenants reinforcements.

Weren't those the Flag ships on REACH? They "snipe" from afar by concentrating their plasma..

but wait! Remember that the Covenant didn't know of this until after the events at Halo 04, the Covenant AI tells the Covenant fleet aabout the in-system jumps, and the altering of plasma weapons.

Kinda makes you think about that time-warping crystal, doesn't it?

I have a response to a lot of those posts. The humans are innovative. We tend to not let things repeat themselves over time. The UNSC probably took precautions in defending the MAC stations more from boarders.

The UNSC ship has actually little to do with how the fight goes. It actually matters much upon the commander. For example, Captain/Commander Keyes destroyed three capital ships by himself. The only reason he couldn't take out the 4th was he had nothing to take it out with. But, if you have an average ship commander, it will obivously depend on technology.

Those "sniper" ships actually take a great deal of power, and are really like flag ships. Usually, a fleet doesn't have 50+ flag ships. There might be 4 or 5, but keep in mind, this is probably a huge construction project, even for the covenant.

I dont remember them saying that the trailer started right at the end of halo 2...it could be anywhere in the game. Near the end, the middle or possibly the start.

yep, its 1/3 through the game, and btw most of earth's defenses were crippled at the begining of halo 2

Says who? Two MAC stations were destroyed, maybe a dozen capital ships. There are 200-300 MAC stations, and probably 400-600 Capital ships. Thats a scratch to the Earth's defenses.

...Think back to halo 1....On the second level "Halo" the Marines gather near certain structure's that shoot a "huge ass light into the sky". Do you remember now?
