Is it just me or did Reach lack emotion? For example, the Troopers in the first level, "The Covenant is on Reach".........it seemed that it really felt like someone was just reading off a piece of paper....

What do y'all think?

Well, they are troopers. Nothing special or all. They should have a bland attitude.

That wasn't bland dude, that was inhuman. They were like machines.

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

The Covenant are on Reach. I repeat, the Covenant are on Reach.

I actually laughed at this line delivery.

It is not robotic. They are just saying it normally.

The tone didn't fit the moment.

They didn't do any research on military dialogue or grammar. Besides that, the dialogue just fell through when they told you, "to keep a low profile." when they did not design the game to allow you to keep a low profile. The dialogue for the entire game felt unnecessary.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

Yeah, but thats the thing: they're weak and helpless. They should have projected some of the fear and pain that the Spartans did not have.

Huh?

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

My, you had to pick probably the worst-delivered line in the entire game. Nay, perhaps the entirety of Halo.

It was also a key line that set the stage for events to come....

The dialogue in the game is just fluff meaning that it does not do anything but fill a space it doesn't enhance the game experience because the dialogue keeps a false pretense that you are sneaking, "keep a low profile" so you try to keep a low profile but the ai just keeps coming after you no matter how you attempt to do that. The game model/ai are exactly the same as they are in Combat Evolved. The only thing that really evolved was Master Chief after that not the ai.

Anyways, on that night sniper mission. You are running from one canyon to another (to the one where the hunters are at and you plant that bomb) when they tell you that there are covenant above you and you need to keep out of sight. However, no matter what you do, fire your weapon or throw a grenade the covenant simply ignore you and fly away. Hence, the dialogue was completely unnecessary.

Or did you not notice that?

Worst-delivered line? The worst-delivered line in my opinion was: "You're on your own Noble. Carter out"

spiral out

Reach's campaign was mindless. It was nothing special at all, which is one of the many reasons why I only played through it once.

Also, there are not many games with multi-player as their main focus that still have a great storyline to the single-player part (s) of the game. Just look at CoD.

One other side note about, "The Covenant is on Reach" this just annoys the hell out of me. It's like saying, "The British is coming, the British is coming!" or "They is taking the hobbits to Isengard, They is taking the hobbits to Isengard".

The correct way for each is, "The Covenant are on Reach." "The British are coming!" and "They are taking the hobbits to Isengard."

The Covenant are on Reach is actually said later in the campaign correctly.

I agree and if they tell you to keep a low profile they mean it, you can't just run through and ignore their dialogue.
