i think its almost going to be unavoidable to not play as the arbiter in h3. I mean its probly going to have another duel storyline type thing with mc "finishing the fight" and the arbiter, johnson, and miranda dealing with the ark...i dont really care if we play as the arbiter again, although i like cheif better, i am an even bigger fan of the great storyline. I liked the halo 2 way of having different perspectives on the storyline by playing as tha rbiter. As for me i hope to see the arbiter in halo 3/

i just hope that bungie will do a great job with the story line, idk it just seems that a lot of people dont appreciate the arbiter enough for what hes done for the halo universe...

I think the arbiter rocked. There was something so cool about his unflinching devotion to the covenant. I think one of the greatest lines in the games comes from a dialogue between the arbiter and the white commando elite seen through out the game. The white elite says something to the effect of "These are my elites, there lives matter to me, yours does not." The arbiter relies "That makes two of us." How -blam!-ing bad ass?

the arbiters side of the story line really showed you what the covenant were like, in responce to your "bad-ass" quote i think that that devotion is really what all the covenant are like (at least the elites) the arbiter gave me a profound respect for the covenant and shows how cool they really are. It made it amzing to behold a collection of races so devoted to a single perpose. If humanity in the halo universe was as devoted we would probly have a better chance. If it wernt for master cheif (and the other spartens) the more devoted would have won long befor halo 2...

i myself like playing the arbiter i dont rele mind his armor but id prefer it to be a bit more bulky and not so sleek. I love his unflinching honour to the covenant as well, killing whoever and whenever.

Edit. if you really think about it the covenant is a more war dominating race because MC and the elites are pretty much matched as it says in the books, and the elites arent genetically engineered super soldiers there just probably trained like our soldiers but do not cower, brutes are crazy mofos but i think there devotion is to overthrow the elites. The arbiters side does give a great perspective instead of just thinking "god, the covenant are dumb... trying to kill everything!!!"

well with great devotion comes great responsibility. the prophets cant tolerate "disobediance or failure" when they have such a large goal. i will never pity the arbiter, in the face of impossible odds the only thing you can do is stand tall, he has done that and i respect it...

-blam!- the arbiter. The games about the effin cheif saving the day. Not some panzy who couldn't save the halo from being obliterated.

true the game is about the human alliance fighting off an overwealming alien onslaught. But, i was just saying that I, and many fans have a profound respect for the covenant by seeing a different side of the storyline. This side of the story was shon through a cast down elite with an unflinching allegeance to the covenant. The storyline of halo 3 has eveolved exceedingly well with the introduction of the arbiter and his/the covenants beliefs. I have found the the covenant, in my opinion, is just as interesting as the UNSC in the halo universe. If it wernt for the arbiter we still wouldnt know much about the covenant. At the end of halo ce think of how much we knew about the covenant other than the fact that they were religious fanatics. The arbiter and his side of the storyline have helped halo morew than i think any of us could have thought possible.

People don't like him because he hasn't proven himself to us. We've just heard about him, I mean the Chief can beat the flood and the Covenant, so can the Arbitar, but can he kill the humans, No.

i dissagree. I think that the reason why people dont respect the arbiter is that he was not there in halo ce. When i first played halo 2 i was looking foward to a continuation of the master cheif saving the universe what i got wa that (a cliffhabger) and more. Halo 2 showed us that playing as a different charecter could be exceedingly annoying, but then later on i realized how cool this charecter is. The arbiter has proven himself countless times ion halo 2. he has killed flood, faced herecy against all that he stands for, and killed the biggest trator to what he stands for. He has faced impossible odds and succeded. In my opinion the arbiter is just as amzing as the master cheif and i now enjoy playing as both and seeing both the sides of the storyline develope.

The Arbiter was awesome. I loved playing as him, and yes I think new armour would be cool, BUT it probably won't happen since his current armour was given to him by The Prophets in the coliseum. ALTHOUGH he is not the Arbiter any more since he isn't working with The Prophets anymore. So I guess he may get a more up to date armour like the other Elites but a little different.

  • 06.07.2006 5:25 PM PDT

They should make a Halo 1 and a half. The game from Arbiter's point of view. It wouldn't be nearly as cool as the real Halos, but it's something.

hmm...im pretty sure the elites following the arbiter will still consider him an arbiter. All we really know of the arbiters is that they created and consumed in times extrodenary crisis, i think the arbiter we know wil;l still create and consume, perhaps the elites and the arbiter will consider themselves the covenant and the prophets heretics. The prophets promised the elites freedom from a doomed existance and them not keeping their promise may have defines them as heritics in the elites eyes...

I don't mind playing as the Arbiter, just as long as there's no switching back and forth between him and MC after each level.

Yea i guess thats true. If i think about it the arbiter is pretty tight. The only reason i disliked playing with him is because i hate duel story lines. Its seems like a cheap way of showing a bigger picture and it takes away from the experience. I'd prefer to have an in depth story with the cheif and really get to know him, all his battles and his struggles.

Two seperate Campain's would fix that alternating mission problem.

that reminds me of how halo ce went along like. it worked just fine, but then we didnt get to learn about the covenant, in h2 we had a duel storyline, but it blended together and created a great story/cliffhanger.

I liked the arbiter... even on my first play though of halo2 and well i much preffer a stealth field to a torch ;) my favourite combat is melee still and the arbiter with a brute shot is handy (stealth and backstab... when no energy sword is available)

I wouldn't put him higher than MC but i loved the duel-storyline of halo2 and enjoyed both parts and i hope to see the arbiter back in halo3
