Subject: is anyone else nervous about halo 4?

no i am not.

Er... you are. You're saying that a specific group of people are superior and should have an absolute voice in the way the game should be made while segregating the others that disagree.

i understand that this is how games should be made. i have played soccer my entire life and i know how soccer should be played if it were played in a video game. i know i could make a more fluent soccer game than some ballerina. its called experience. these more competitive players have a good idea as to what system would create an overall good gaming environment.

This is the worst analogy ever. You assume that someone who spends their whole life dedicated to something means that they're right? Wake up and smell the bacon - people dedicate their whole lives to things like religion and particular beliefs. Does this make them right? No. Sir Fred Hoyle was a worldwide acclaimed scientist who formed the steady-state theory but was disproved by the evidence of the Big Bang Theory and yet remained fiercely impervious to the evidence up until his death.

My point is, just because someone or a group of people are experienced in a particular field, that does not make them right about everything concerning it. I don't know if you'd noticed but 343i is comprised of industry individuals from a wide range of other gaming studios and backgrounds, they're the EXPERTS because they're the ones that have been actually working on video games for years and years. Their vision evidently isn't aligned with yours, going by the logic you've presented this makes them right.

It doesn't. That's their vision of what they want the game to be like, there will always be an audience that enjoys it and an audience that doesn't.

you continue to try and flip everything i say on its head.. religion and science is a little more grey than the mechanics of the halo series..

--look at bloom. bad mechanic, slows gameplay, shortens skill gap, increases randomness.

--armor abilities. alters gameplay, distorts map control, increases randomness.

--movement speed slowed. well, slower gameplay.

--no skill based rank system, people quit without facing an actual punishment

clearly we arent going to see eye to eye on this one, just like the majority of the community out there. you are entitled to your own opinion as i am to my own.

i personally trust a professional halo player's ideas as to what would make halo a better game compared to some kid who sits around and plays living dead all day. there needs to be a balance between competitive and casual players.

~ Videogames are my favorite videogames ~

Remember when Halo didn't even have online, so ranks didn't matter, but was still fun?
Yeah.

get out

lol no but really. you are bringing in a completely different variable to this argument which destroys the argument for xbox live play in itself.

Yeah.
I remember playing CE local multiplayer with my brothers. No ranks, no Be-all-end-all weapon, no communication, just typical slayer all day, good times, I tell you.

OT - I'm not even bothered how Halo 4 is going to turn out, I've gone past the point where I gave up trying.

I logged in just to let you know what a great post that was. I only wish I could turn that into a quote or something.

I'm new to competitive Halo and Halo itself (Reach being my first video game ever actually). Message me if you want to play;

Reach: MLG, Arena, Doubles, BTB and customs.
Halo 3: Ranked MM and customs.

Also I have every Halo title and all of its DLC on the Xbox 360.
-Umpa

I think most people will like it better than reach.

im not really worried. will see how it all goes when it's out.

i believe you and i are on different wavelengths seeing that your most played playlist living dead.. im not judging or anything, but there isnt much of a competitive edge in that playlist.

im worried about halo losing this competitive edge. i almost feel like the halo franchise is moving away from one of the aspects that made it so unique

I don't know what you are hoping for? Competitive Halo died with Halo 3, move on to another game or stick with Halo 3. Its stupid hoping for a game to be competitive when it has already been confirmed it isn't...

Your opinion is invalid.

I'm a bit concerned that Call of Duty: Halo won't be my thing, but we all know I'm going to buy it anyway.

Sure I'm nervous. I'm not a fan of the direction the MM has been headed, and H4 doesn't really sound like a step in the right direction. But I also want a Halo 3.2, not Reach 2. I'll wait to complain when the game's released though.

  • 05.30.2012 2:59 PM PDT

Game looks like complete and utter -blam!-. Nothing more.

No. Because it Halo Reach 2.0

So I already know its going to epically fail.

  • 05.30.2012 3:25 PM PDT

I'm not worried anymore because I'm already 90% sure 343 has sold out. They're making a casual game for the money, which I don't blame, but I'm really disappointed. Halo was Bungie's baby :(

I'll still be getting the game since Campaign and Spartan Ops seem amazing, and since there should at least be a few playlists that are close to core Halo (hopefully more than just MLG, if even that will be like core Halo)

I havent watched but two videos about it, and havent read anything about it (except on the forums). Honestly, I dont care. Ive never played a game made by 343i so I dont know what to expect. Im pretty confident itll be good. I just hope it still has that good ole Halo feel to it.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

I already know Halo 4 will be as competitive as CoD (not at all). Gave up on it a while ago.

For The Lulz is a worthier cause than For The Win.

From the skies to the ground, I'm the one that'll reign destruction down on you from behind the wheel and the flight stick. Keep your eyes on the rear view mirror, or you may be eating exhaust aside the road, riddled with holes.

My sniper is hungry for souls.

If at first you fail, fail again so that you succeed by wrapping your fail around the continuum into the win zone.

Basically this.

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

Nervous? It looks awful, and I'm not prepared to blow $60 on it.

If you like Armor Lock, you are a troll.

There's no reason to be nervous. We all know how awful it will be.

They can't sell out. They are Microsoft. Specifically, they are a sub-division of Microsoft's Games division. They will do as Microsoft says, to make the most money. If I was them, to do that, I would make the game appeal to the most diverse range of people, rather than fans of the franchise. Sucks for us, $$$ for M$.

If more people did this they won't be able to make a Call of Halo 5. Instead everyone says "what the hell might as well", and pays them for what ever piece of crap they decide to shove down our throat. If I had played the beta I wouldn't have bought Reach. I know thats why they didn't make a beta this time...

from my point of view i see it as this... it has some good aspects from other halos but also is adding new stuff. i want the halo feel to it but not a remake of reach

  • 05.31.2012 5:18 AM PDT

No. It's pretty much impossible to get a Halo game that's more skillful than the previous one, so I saw it coming.

I think it'll be fun regardless.

R.I.P CrunchyBoi 22 (old profile)

I just hate join in progress.
One of the main reasons I choose halo as my main game is because you can't join in games and you have to wait for a full match which is good.
But now with join in I bet I'll just finish joining a game and the gam will end just like a million times on mw2.
I think I'll stick with halo 3.

ARMOR LOCK FTW!!

Don't judge a game by what little bit of footage is out at the moment. Wait till you seem some final gameplay before you say what you do/don't like about it. I have full trust in 343 being able to make a great Halo 4.
