Subject: Precursors, humanoid? Your opinion

Do you think the Precursors are humanoid looking? I mean they created us and the Forerunners, and we both look very similar to each other. I think that the Primordial was just a Gravemind, nothing more. I also think that they are humanoid, they also are a bit different. What do you think?

....

I have read Cryptum and just bought Primordium, and at least in the cryptum novel there is no description of the prisoner that broke out on Charum Hakkor.

I got to start reading primordium lol

The Primordial claims to be Precursor. He's described as having a monstrous appearance. But I don't think he really is a Precursor and if he is, he's a shadow of what he once was. The Precursors supposedly breathed life into the Forerunners and humanity - why would they make two races so human-like in appearance if they weren't humanoid (at the very least) themselves. If they just created humanity and the Forerunners looked completely different, then fine. But we look similar.

It sounds to me the Precursors tried to make two species in their image. Maybe both attempts failed, and they tried a third time, and ended up with the Primordial. It could be anything, but whatever the case I don't think for a second the Primordial's appearance is representative of the Precursors'.

心の中に弱い風が吹いています。

The last surviving Precursor who was the prisoner held on Charum Hakkor was described as having a scorpion like head with several appendages. However someone speculated that the Precursors were a mix of several species. If that's true then maybe the last Precursor isn't from the species that created the Forerunners. But that's all speculation at this point.

Well, since they are not really precursors but in fact The Flood, they look like zombie version of everything they infect. Read the forerunner trilogy, you will learn much.

The precursors are flood. The prisoner that escaped(helped be the master builder) Later tells Chakkas and the Didact(bornsteller) that he is a grave-mind and that the flood chooses who to infect and is used to test the species ability to hold the mantle. However the prisoner say the flood can't be beat and the forerunner will loose the mantle and eventually the humans will be tested(he doesn't know the outcome tho).

Also 343 guilty spark is the spirit of chakkas and takes control of a unsc ship as its AI, he then goes to travel to the greater Ark, were the librarian supposedly hides, to find the secret to beat the flood, so the humans are prepared.

Well that's how I interpreted the end Primordium.

*SPOILERS*

The Primordial is found out to not actually be a Precursor by the Didact but an extremely old Gravemind, so while he might look like a Precursor (which if he does then he is REALLY old seeing as how the Precursors were supposedly wiped out) he really is a Gravemind. A Gravemind WOULD have the capability to pull such a facade so it's very likely this is what happened. The Gravemind could also have been telling lies to the humans it was held captive by.

Let's also remember that before the Forerunner trilogy we thought the Forerunners were some all enlightened race that was all good before we found out they are pretty much just like humans in most regards, faulty, corrupt individuals seeking power, so on and so forth. The Precursors might be a very evil or harsh race and perhaps only created Humans and Forerunners for a nefarious purpose. I doubt it would be slavery though seeing as how the Forerunners seem to have had their own civilization alongside the Precursors before they found out their the plot to kill the Forerunners off.

I haven't read any of the Halo books, but from my scrutinising of their plot summaries on Wikipedia (heretical, I know) I came to the conclusion that Precursors are humanoid, because the Forerunners believed that they were created by the Precursors "in their image." Obviously anyone who has read the books can overrule my statement.
