Alright. After watching the mini-documentary Bungie released on Halo 3, I have realised something, well, not realised it, but it was reiterated. Reiterated so strongly it was like a punch in my colon.

Thus far, the Halo series has been no less than epic. I think we can all agree that the storyline is not special, and it's been done, but the gameplay, and more importantly, the music, makes up for the story.

So the story goes deeper if you read the books, but for someone who hasn't, this story is cliche'. Cool, that's fine. But what other game would you spend literally 24 hours playing with your buddies while scarfing down pizza and drinking Jolt?

There were so many times both in Halo 1 and Halo 2 alike where I would just stop and listen to the music. Honestly, what other First Person Shooter was so cared about, was so enshrined in undying, unflinching badass-ness, that an entire orchestra was used just for the music?

I'll be the first to admit that Halo 1 and Halo 2 both have their fair share of annoyances, and things that could be changed, but the fact remains; these games are the epitome of First Person Shooters. What line is more badass then at the end of Halo 2 when Chief says "Sir, finishing this fight". When he said that, I literally got chills, forget that it's the end of the game, just watch that clip over and over again in the documentary, and try not to tell me that he's going to kick ass harder and take more names in Halo 3. That line says that he is going to wreck the Covenant's -blam!-. Also, when an FPS comes out, what does it get compared to? Halo. When you mention Xbox, what is the single game that comes to your mind? Halo.

So much time and effort were put into these games in all aspects: Gameplay, graphics, music, etc. that it would be insane, even for the hardcore PS2 fanboy, to not like something about these games. Sure, Halo 2 was made in only, what was it, 10 months (Correct me if I'm wrong)? Even so, people don't keep playing it merely because it's Halo: Combat Evolved's predecessor, but because it's a great game.

This is my way of saying thanks to Bungie and everyone who helped on these games. I can safely say that the Xbox would not be as successful without these games. I can only hope that Halo 3 carries on the legacy that has been set forth in the gaming world by the Halo series.

You speak words of wisdom, friend. Everything about Halo has been created by someone, every single piece of texture you come across has been touched before you, every piece of music has been recorded and perfected before they entered your ears, and I know what you're saying. Remeber in the Level "Two Betrayals" at the very beginning of the chapter "Final Run" a score began to play? I just had to stop for a minute and listen, it really amazed me. Bungie has the right to be proud of Halo.

I wouldn't use the word god on B.net. The mods are strict about it. Other than that, I completely agree with you. I also notice you are scoring bonus points with Marty and continuing to boost his ego.

As I said, if you read the books, it gets a lot more original, but if you only play the games... the story has been done before.

These grounds have been tread before, ofcourse people will agree with the obvious. The name of this topic is offensive, and Ninja's can smell your offensive odor miles away...just like a polar bear...ooo that's scary, a polar bear AND a ninja...at the saaame time. All flamage aside, most major gaming titles have big production and detial. Trying to outdo the crowd and be original is the name of the game. Pointing out places of interest with music is an undertone that pulls you in more.

I can't think of anything right now, but my point stands. I know it's been done before. I'll think of the game sooner or later. lol.

Do I care that it's been said before? No. I'm saying it right now, that's all that matters. If they want me to, I'll change the title, but right now, I'm keeping it the same.

I don't care how big their production is, how much detail they put in, or how much they try to outdo the crowd and be original, because Bungie passed that test with flying-friggin'-colors.

I have to agree. Halo as made being a gamer fun again. This is the first game that my friends can just sit there for hours killing eachother all in good fun since 007 golden eye. Halo as literally changed the face of gaming forever. I dont think many realize this, bungie didnt just raise the bar on halo... they literally made all games better. All gaming companies have to push for a better game thanks to halo. And the music is BY FAR the best soundtrack of all time. Weither its the majestic art of Marty or the rock songs lke "blow me away" the soundtrack is awesome. Not to mention the contribution they made to the online gaming comunity. Bungie deserves (i know im exagerating) the nobel prize or something. Gaming just wouldnt be the same. O and for the story comment i have to say in my opinion... the story is SWEET. Always kept me guessing.. always a little surprise. Well Thank you bungie!

Have you ever heared of Enders Game written by Orson Scott Card? Not the same, but similar. I've even come accross a few old books about ring worlds built by ancient races. And the flood = Futuristic Zombies.
They are not games, but the story lines are similar.

But Halo is executed so well, it truly is an epic, there is no other word for it.

That was my respose to someone saying this story has never been done before. Of course bungie will add their own characters and plot twists, but you bring up another similar point in the Enders series. In the Enders series there is an alien enemy that are like the flood. They are called "buggers" and all of the drones have a collective mind in one body, the queen. The queen=gravemind.

Don't believe me about all the similarities? Then read it for yourself.

Read my post further, I said if you only play the games, then the story has been done, but if you read the books, it gets much more in depth.

Well said.. No other game out there has made me feel as tho im doing something some good fighting as MC. most characters in other games are way over done because the people trying to make them a character have tried to make him "too cool" and its lame.

But with MC not speaking many lines it makes every line he says so much more significant.
