Wait..... do all zombies speak in prose? Gravemind is the most cultured zombie EVER!

That was my respose to someone saying this story has never been done before. Of course bungie will add their own characters and plot twists, but you bring up another similar point in the Enders series. In the Enders series there is an alien enemy that are like the flood. They are called "buggers" and all of the drones have a collective mind in one body, the queen. The queen=gravemind.

Don't believe me about all the similarities? Then read it for yourself.
The buggers were more like drones. I read the Ender series for the first time after playing Halo 2, and I couldn't help but imagining the buggers to look like drones.

I agree with you, but i imagined them to be more ant-like. But im not talking about physical similarities im talking about story lines and character similarities, so they are more like the flood in the sense that they all have a collective mind in a single host and have no concept of individuality.

i just have to say something here
yes, what you said is mostly all true and we should all thank bungie for the better then close to perfect job they did on these games and soon halo 3
everynow and then i think to myself, that if somehow halo 3 or the halo movie were to suck or be messed up in some way that people would be out for blood and necks, literally
this following that halo has...is it a larger following then some of the others that have come and gone? i dont know, but this following is one of the reasons that bungie has strived for such good games, of coarse some of you might say they would have strived to make a good game with out such a following and you are probably right, however the whole pnt is that this following is what makes the game flourish, without it, bungie probably would have stopped at game one and history would be drastically different
the other thing is, yes this game is epic and thats what makes it so great, without the epicness of it, something great would be lost, i have got to hand it to marty on a job well done with the music, the music IS half the epicness(i think this is my word for the day) the music is one of the things that make the game great as has been pnted out

now as for the ending of the game, yes unfortunatly we all have to acknowledge the painful realty that halo in gaming is coming to an end with the third game(or is it? see bottom)), while this is sad, there is something more to look forward to, the movie, yes, thats right, because of this movie, halo has much more time left and i would hope that they go on to have 3 or 4 of these suckers and if they do, that means we can look forward to years more of anticipation

all i have left to say is that i hope the coming game and then the movie will be better then the games before it, bungie works their donkeys off for us to have great entertainment and we thank them

ok, now we all know the halo games are coming to an end, but there is plenty more in the halo universe then just the halos whose to say there wont be more games involved in this particular universe that wont involve a halo of some sort?

I'm VERY sure this has been brought up before. The plot thickens with the storyline, as: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0345333926/sr=8-1/qid=114974 5385/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-7799708-5932928?%5Fencoding=UTF8

But Halo executes it so well, even if people can point out obvious plot-bits, it's forgivable. And in Halo 2, I wouldn't give them hell for adding in another Halo. It's all part of the plot! Seven Halo's. And it all leads up to the third epic journey of our pop-culture 'Master Chief'. This is going to be massive .

Alright. After watching the mini-documentary Bungie released on Halo 3, I have realised something, well, not realised it, but it was reiterated. Reiterated so strongly it was like a punch in my colon.

Thus far, the Halo series has been no less than epic. I think we can all agree that the storyline is not special, and it's been done, but the gameplay, and more importantly, the music, makes up for the story.

So the story goes deeper if you read the books, but for someone who hasn't, this story is cliche'. Cool, that's fine. But what other game would you spend literally 24 hours playing with your buddies while scarfing down pizza and drinking Jolt?

There were so many times both in Halo 1 and Halo 2 alike where I would just stop and listen to the music. Honestly, what other First Person Shooter was so cared about, was so enshrined in undying, unflinching badass-ness, that an entire orchestra was used just for the music?

I'll be the first to admit that Halo 1 and Halo 2 both have their fair share of annoyances, and things that could be changed, but the fact remains; these games are the epitome of First Person Shooters. What line is more badass then at the end of Halo 2 when Chief says "Sir, finishing this fight". When he said that, I literally got chills, forget that it's the end of the game, just watch that clip over and over again in the documentary, and try not to tell me that he's going to kick ass harder and take more names in Halo 3. That line says that he is going to wreck the Covenant's -blam!-. Also, when an FPS comes out, what does it get compared to? Halo. When you mention Xbox, what is the single game that comes to your mind? Halo.

So much time and effort were put into these games in all aspects: Gameplay, graphics, music, etc. that it would be insane, even for the hardcore PS2 fanboy, to not like something about these games. Sure, Halo 2 was made in only, what was it, 10 months (Correct me if I'm wrong)? Even so, people don't keep playing it merely because it's Halo: Combat Evolved's predecessor, but because it's a great game.

This is my way of saying thanks to Bungie and everyone who helped on these games. I can safely say that the Xbox would not be as successful without these games. I can only hope that Halo 3 carries on the legacy that has been set forth in the gaming world by the Halo series.
That was a very nice monologue.

Do you mean 12 & under? Xbox Live is recommended for 13 & up and the last 2 Conker games have been rated M fool so, the series is not recommended for children anymore.

l Omen l you're welcome. You deserve it it was very touching.

So true, I did too. There was so many times in the first game for example where an exciting and desperate situation was heightened to pant-wetting levels of excitement by the epic score.

I like what you said about the difference between the main storyline and the whole background, mythology and story behind it all. The main story is not a hugely complex or original one, but it is set in a rich and compelling background with more questions than answers. There's the books, the whole Ilovebees.com story, the cortana letters, the covenant transmissions (i don't know everything this is just what comes to mind) and all the countless references and unanswered questions from the games which might not have been crucial but hinted at even huger things.

You could say "Marty is a pure pimp of epic proportions on a scale of pure epicness". That only begins to describe how awesome Marty is.

The story may have been cliche in Halo 1, but I think in Halo 2 it gets a lot more in-depth. Also, the plot line hasn't finished yet.

Anyways great post Omen.

they need more huge drums in Halo 3 like in Halo 1. that made me get into the action in the first game.

For sure. In Halo 1, they were basically the "drums of war" if you will.

I think the best thing about Halo 1 was the level 343 Guilt Spark. That level was so well done. The first time I played it I was freaking out.

All the blips on your Motion Tracker in the begining was great. If you look up when you cross that fallen tree in the begining you can see two human combat forms walking away, they show up on your tracker as friendly.
