Please help.

I've done everything to fix this:

"There was a problem initializing Direct3D, hardware accleration may be disabled. Please run DXDIAG"

When i ran DXDIAG it said in the notes box under the display tab:

Direct3D 7 test results: All tests were succesful.
Direcy3D 8 test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D 9 test results: Display Driver does not support API (DDI version too low)

How in the hell does a driver from 1/24/2006 not work with D3D 9???

Any help is appreciated. *sighs from agony of not being able to run halo*

System Specs:

Dell Dimension 4400
Intel P4 1.8GHz
ATI Radeon 9200 128MB
256 MB DDR SDRAM

reinstall Halo. or, go to the halo directory ( I think it auto installes at C:\program files\microsoft games\halo) And click on "Install Direct X 9". I had that problem and that worked.

Post Script: dont dent your case, it never hurt anything.

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

The problem is its a Dell. Dells hate games. They also like to be beat to pieces. Like mine. Dells are basicly a $600 piece of crap. I know. I own one.

Manually install the 1.07 patch you can find on Microsofts Halo support page. Make sure you have DirectX 9c installed (you canfind that at microsoft.com also) and the latest drivers for your card(Try guru3d.com). After all that Halo should work.

If not, open the cover of your PC and blow out all the dust with a leafblower. This fixes most unexplained problems.
