Yes, I did make that mess. What are you going to do about it?

Bungie made a game that shaped who I am today.

They didn't dominate console gaming. Call of duty did.
Bungie effectively made console gaming for fps.

Apart from Goldeneye, name good console fps's pre-Halo.

Just because they revolutionized it doesn't mean they dominated it with it player base-wise or sales-wise.

The sound of iron shocks is stuck in my head, The thunder of the drums dictates
The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead's the rising of the horns, ahead
From the dawn of time to the end of days I will have to run, away
I want to feel the pain and the bitter taste of the blood on my lips, again

Bungie has great fan interaction.

CoD series has made more money than Halo series.

Period. At that time, they may have dominated. But overall, when you average it all out and add up all the sales... CoD wins. That may be because of its easiness, accessibility, yearly releases, and numerous sequels as opposed to quality game experiences..... but still.

Every member of the Covenant shall walk the path. None will be left behind when our Great Journey begins. That is the Prophets' age-old promise, and it shall be fulfilled!

They are stupid for enslaving themselves.

Well, I'm pretty sure we're talking about what Halo did at the time that it did it. We're not talking about what they did in hindsight, not what CoD had done since then. CoD could be irrelevant in 5 years yet that wouldn't negate what it's done as a series, and the same goes for Halo.

At the time it came out, Halo CE completely changed the way we play console FPSs. When Halo 2 came out, it changed the way we play online shooters, and was basically responsible for XBL becoming a success. Most games these days can't touch the party system that H2/H3 had.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Bungie gave me hours upon hours of mind-numbing entertainment then dropped me out in the cold darkness that is today. They took me to the place where there is no darkness. (Bonus points if you can name the reference)

It's kept me entertained for quite some time.

Door Kickers Inc.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Halo 2 I wouldn't be playing video games today.

Halo 2 was the reason I started to seriously enjoy video games for all their aspects. You know, the story, gameplay, visuals, etc...

I still remember the first time I played it, too. I was invited to my friends house to stay the night, and his brother was playing Halo 2. So, we waited till he went to bed and we played it. I changed after that night. I only wanted to play that game and that game only. So, it was pretty much everyday that my friend and I would play Halo 2 together.

We beat the campaign rather quickly, but we mostly played each other in customs. We would also have LAN parties (remember those, guys?) on the weekends where all our friends who played, and all of my friend's brother's friend's from high school would come over. That's all we would do is customs and it was some of the best times in my short life.

Luckily for me, all of this happened around the 05-06 timeframe. So, we only played Halo 2 for around a year and half before Halo 3 came out. I just knew that Halo 3 would be soooo much better, that I convinced my parents to buy me an Xbox 360 so I could have it. When Halo 3 came out, we had our last, and greatest LAN party. We rented a big screen TV, we all brought our systems and separate TV's and the weekend after Halo 3's release, I don't think I stepped one foot outside. It was our last because we all got Xbox Live like the week after.

Those two games, Halo 2 and Halo 3, will forever be my top two favorite games.

tl;dr If it wasn't for Bungie, I wouldn't be playing video games today.

Halo keeps my blood pressure down. I also enjoy getting in on some free double-edge debate skill-building on xbox live.
