I realized that Bungie never revealed how Johnsnon escaped, and in H2 that subject did come out for a moment... (You know, at the begining when you checking out your new armor). Well I think that a small itsy bitsy part from the end of H3 should be revealing what happened to Sgt Johnson in Halo CE.

---Now, I KNOW this secret is being revealed in the "Halo graphic novel series" but I think the should include in the game.

IMHO I think that Johnson formed a last minute alliance with the covenant and escaped in some sort of ship...

The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

It is in the books. He was in a pelican and was adrift in space before MC picked him up in the longsword.

Johnson then exlpains how he was immune to the flood.

A small cut scene of Sgt Johnson telling the story to Keyes or the Arbiter while they are on Delta Halo or traveling to Earth would be interesting.

Even though Bungie did say that small pieces of the books are not accurate to the whole of the story (Nylund needed to fill in some areas that didn't connect with some embellishments). They even directly addressed Johnson and his escape in this statement in how Bungie 'may choose to ignore some pieces of information from the books.' I don't trust the books; it simply doesn't add up, and there was only 1 person writing the story (editors...pssh) there as apposed to half a dozen to dozens for the game. They are very good reads, though.

"Oh you -blam!- camping whore!"
"It's a legitimate strategyyyyyyy!"

This is partially answered in the book First Strike but is fully explained (him actually escaping th Flood on Halo) in the upcoming graphic novel. It is one of the 4 main stories....buy it and find out.....

SPOILER ALERT (If you have not read First Strike)

The reason the Flood could not take over Johnson was because exposure to high plasma radiation from a crate of plasma nades in a mission prior to the Fall of Reach gave Johnson a rare syndrome which screws up neural signals in the nervous system. In order for the Flood to take over a body, they have to send signals through the host organism's nervous system but since Johnson's was screwed up from the plasma radition, he is immune to the Flood (btw if you are reading this and did not read FS or Fall of Reach yet, do yourself a favor and get both...)

So Sgt Johnson is like mentally ill and the flood doesn´t take mentally challenged people?

But it wouldn´t hurt to do a small scene of that happening in H3? Like a small scene of Johnson telling the story to the Arbiter

Hahaha, let me give you an explanation or run-through if you will from the book "The Flood"
1.Srgt Johnson was not affected by the Flood because he has a special disease (Borens Syndrome i think) that is caused by exposure to plasma and lots of gun firing.
2.Srgt Johnson cannot be affected by Flood because they cant read his DNA, which renders him useless to Flood bodies.
3.This is where its kinda wierd, or rather it nevers explains. After Master Chief escapes in the longsword, he is driftng through space looking for marine lifesigns (from the book, First Strike), when he heres a slight rumbling in the back. At first he thinks it is a flood, but it turns out to be none other than Srgt Johnson. And of course the story continues and yadadada. More will probably be explained in the Halo Graphic Novel.
P.S. Please read the books.

Actually, it wasn't because they couldn't read his DNA, but because his nervous system was screwed up too much for the "popcorn dude" to take him completely over.

Yea in a way he is mentally ill from the plasma radiation. Screwed up his nervous system. He doesnt show signs of it though, well so far....but anyway John had to choose between giving all source files to ONI section 3 when he returned to Earth telling of Halo and the Flood and the events after (which would kill Johnson since it included his run in and survival of the Flood, thus they would kill him and disect him for cures), or he could give ONI just relevant files about the Flood and Halo, but not mention Johnson....needless to say...he went with the second choice.

Johnson also happens to be immune to death. You can shoot the pus out of him and he'll still be alive. Not to mention that even if you kill him, he will suddenly reappear later on by jumping out of a Pelican with a batch of Marines... he is immune to everything.

They did that in the first Halo as a joke like Kenny on South Park...but in H2 he serves such a more important, well, on screen role and a major character, they made him an unkillable NPC.

Johnson should not die in H3 that´s that...But if someone otheer than MC must die it should be him

PS: I have no idea if that makes sense

the reason he cant die is because he is part flood, the flood DNA still mixed with his, but because of the syndrome he has, he doesnt mutate like that others do

Actually it's going to be explained in the graphical novel how he escaped. But hope it'll be explained with cut-scenes in Halo 3 too. Not that I haven't read the books though.

IM SICK OF THIS BEING ASKED!

For the record. Johnson is immune to the flood because of his Borens Syndrome! He got it when he used a whole crate of plasma grenades that he captured. He got of Halo with some other marines in a pelican then hid in Halo's debris. Please nobody ask this again and if you realy want to know information, PLEASE read the books.

I would have choosen to kill Johnson though to find a possible cure to fighting the flood. If that guy must die so the rest dont turn into floods that I say so be it.
Sure beats the halos activating and destroying all life in the galaxy right?
