So, would you want a matchmaking setup in Halo 3 like the current setup? Or would you prefer a setup where you can host your own public games?

No - reason being in Halo II you use your own servers or when i matchmaking it will give a random person Host. becomming host allows you to standby.. mod.. block people from your internet. this is all cheating.

Custom games should be able to be hosted by anyone useing one of bungies servers, also anyone (not just people on your friends list) could find these custom games created by you useing a search.. if you want just your friends to play it would be made invite only/friends only. with the option of closed as well.

Matchmaking would use only bungies servers with no host that way bridgeing/modding wouldnt be seen of if i under stand correctly. It would still have playlists such as Team slayer, Team skirmish, Team hardcore and rumble pit. - with the use of bungies servers and ranked matchmade games peoples ranks could be respected.

i think that there should be no host player in the matchmaking the host player should be put in as a ghost and held by bungie or something so standbying and bridging are highly improbable and at high levels any advantage not tied with skills strategy is b.s.

If there was a ghost host, hosted by bungie then they would have to have an xbox for every game played. That would cost WAY to much.

I personally hate matchmaking, but I sort of see why some people would like it, so instead of doing one or the other, I'd like to see Bungie implement both, a Optimatch/Server List system, and a matchmaking system in Halo 3.

I want to be able to play what I want when I want it. I think with my friends and clan, Halo 2 would have been the end all for all live games, but since we were stuck with using matchmaking they didn't stick with it more than 2 weeks.

It could be similar to CoD2 or GRAW in that you can choose to have a private game or a public unranked game. However, for ranked games the current system would be good because if someone makes a game on GRAW, their team always gets the best spawn point and stuff. If the ranked matches were the same as they are now then it would be fair.

The Beatles kickass.
Also, I probably hate you.

How about both? Matchmaking proved it's worthiness in Halo 2, and hosting public games would make it much easier to just have a laid-back, fun game, so why not both?
