Subject: Actually, now that I look, the trailer was kinda dumb.

Dude, it would be so cool if we had these pregnant sentinels that were, like, all flaming and shot out baby flaming sentinels that would be all "YARRRGH!" then they'd be like, "WHAAAAR" when they shoot.

That'd be sweet.

I'm sorry, but I just thing Cortana's lines are OVERdramatic.

Graphics, Music, and the field display by the Covenant was the whole main thing.

But Cortana just seemed retarded to me...

"This is the way the world ends" makes me a little embarrased to be watching the movie, as its... kinda lame.

"I know you, your past, your future" the expression on cortana's face was so bad...

Maybe Cortana just should have been left out of the trailer, she kinda ruined it.

Yeah ur opiong. But its dumb. Of course, ITS ONLY AN ANNOUCMENT TRAILER. Stop demanding, and let bungie work.

  • 06.08.2006 6:11 AM PDT

Well, you've expressed your opinions. Thats all I can say.

You are entitled to your opinion. I disagree. She made the trailer for me.

Bungie wasn't aiming at making the trailer kinda smart, if you watch the making or read some weekly updates then you would know what they were aiming for.

I guess you don't read to much T. S. Elliot or are embarassed by classical American poetry as well.

If you would know the context all of Cortana's lines were in, then you wouldn't think it's stupid. Still, your opinion, so I'll honor that. I just happen to disagree with you.

The line about how to world ends is connected to a poem Eliot wrote about how the world ends not with a bang but a whimper. Cortana said he was wrong, it'd go with a bang. That signifies alot for halo 3.

hearing her saying "This is the way the world ends." gave me goose bumps.

i thought that was the perfect ending/quote to use.

and what she says during the trailer shows us that she is disoriented.

but, surprisingly as others have said, it is your opinion.

also, that poem by TS Eliot is alot like what is shown in the h3 trialer. alot of the lines match what we saw in the trailer.

Don't speak for 95% of the forum-goers here. You have no idea what people think. I have seen just as many threads talking about how people are being overly dramatic about this Trailer thing, as I have people being overly dramatic about it. As a matter of fact, one of the groups I'm in, The Trolls, I'm not sure there are more than 10% of us who actually thought the trailer was impressive. Sure, it wasn't bad I guess, but it definitely wasn't good. But who gives a -blam!- about a trailer. I'm guessing the only people who are taking this movie trailer thing that seriously are the people who actually care about the Single Player... and I'd have to venture a guess that that is the minority... not the other way around. Just because the voices of the people who LIKED the trailer are the loudest and most obnoxious, please don't assume they are the majority.

I'm not even totally sure what that means. All I'm saying is that most people play Halo for the Multiplayer experience. Sure, the story is good for a video game, but I know a lot of people who would have just rather seen another Multiplayer Demo like Halo 2's, but I'm sure that's to come at the next E3. I'm not knocking the people who like the Campaign at all... I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the people who play Halo didn't even go through the campaign. Of my group of friends that I LAN with here in town (probably about 20 guys) only one went through the campaign, and he did that on Easy just to see the story. I'm not saying my group of friends is a microcosm of the entire Halo Community, just saying that's my experience.

Do I? Let me Quote the people I spoke for:
As a matter of fact, one of the groups I'm in, The Trolls, I'm not sure there are more than 10% of us who actually thought the trailer was impressive.
I did give a guess as to who was dissecting the trailer:
I'm guessing the only people who are taking this movie trailer thing that seriously are the people who actually care about the Single Player... and I'd have to venture a guess that that is the minority
Just because I use the word minority, doesn't mean I'm claiming that I'm part of the Majority. I didn't spout garbage statistics like 95% of the people disagree with the original post maker.

Read my second post. Maybe that should clear things up for you as well.

In my opinion the trailer did two things. 1. It gave the world a glimpse of what they are working on, and put the rumors to rest. 2. It gave hardcore Bungie and Halo fans something to study. If you are in between those two, then you may not like the trailer. You either like it for what the game could be, or you like it because there is so much to analyze. If you are looking for a deeper insight in game play, or don’t follow the Halo story close enough to appreciate what is given, then you will probably have to wait for another video.

That's pretty much what I said. I appreciate that there are many people who enjoy the Campaign in Halo, but if they had chosen to show some Gameplay from Multiplayer, or even Campaign, everyone would have been happy. I would have gotten to see the HUD and basic gameplay, and those who enjoy the Campaign could have seen some of it. Win-Win. The trailer in no way adds to anyone's experience in anything. You get to see MC looking over a cliff and take-in his impending doom/victory. Did you guys not know that there was going to be some fighting in Halo 3? That's all it tells us...

If I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good nite.

The trailer did what it was supposed to. It announced Halo 3. Now if people didn't like it, it still did its job. I for one enjoyed it immensely. Cortana's voice was to help build up skepticism and possible plot theories. All in all, the trailer did its job and pleased a majority of the fanbase.

Why is everyone getting so worked up over an ANNOUCEMENT TRAILER!!!!
Any facts or plot lines should be taken at face value, all bungie really wanted to tell us is that the game actually does exist. We all need to chill until a game play trailer is in front of us, then let the speculation and criticism start.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

cortana's presence was simple, she was there so that you can see what her current situation is. obviously she's pretty fff'd up right now. and her lines are what made me trip out.

The trailer was simply to announce and confirm Halo 3, hinting at a couple of plot points. For the purposes of an announcement, the trailer was more suitable than a gameplay demonstration. True it would have satisfied both parties, but it is better reserved for after the announcement.

If Cotana's line were to dramatic, what would you have her say, then? I think the trailer was great, especially the music. I want the .mp3!!!!

thge trailer applies alot more to devoted fans if u ask me who see it as something HUGE. therefore people who dont wet their pants wen they see it are thinking its a little over-dramatic. i bet the guy who posted this would love a trialer with multiplayer gameplay
