I would agree that the majority of Halo players like the game for multiplayer. But I also think that the majority of its players do not fully appreciate the story of Halo, and probably dont want to.
But for Bungie the story is probably the one thing they care about most in the Halo series, not the multiplayer game play. Video games are not an art, they are a craft. But writting good stories is an art.
Bungie does not consist of just artists, but every individual there has a creative and inovative mind, If they didn't then they wouldn't have been hired in the first place. The story is theirs to share with us, and they want to share it with us as best as they can. Shure they didn't have to release this trailer now, they could have waited until they could release a multiplayer trailer. But the story was there, it was finished, and has been finished for years. As artists they are probably way more proud of the story they have created instead of some multiplayer combat system.
In my opinion... The trailer is not an advertisement. It's Bungie expressing themselves and their story. You should have a little more respect, because you have no idea what they have to go through to get to where they are now with the Halo series. Don't say I don't know, cus I do the same kind of work they do.
Making games is not always a fun bussiness, It's the most stressfull career I have ever had, and it's more than likely the same for them.
