Apparently you do because you respond to all of my posts...I must have hurt you bad for you to follow me so closely fanboy.
Anyhow, Halo is dead (unless you are on welfare and can't afford anything better).
Now as far as rips off other stuff....Jezus Christmas, Halo is a rip off everything from Aliens to Robocop...I mean come on..the EXACT same sniper used to kill ED-209. Now seriously, when was the last time anyone had a truely original idea? In the real world you can't afford to have a truly original idea, people can't relate to them and won't buy/accept 'em.... So the best you can do take what people already know and like, identify what they really like about it, and either refine it or incorporate it into your "new" ideas. That is why nintendo is better than atari, or more importantly why the japanese make better [blam!] than we do. They don't try to re-invent the wheel every frigin time they make a car, they look at our inovations, do research on what works and what doesn't work, AND THEN make the product, which makes them better/cheaper (e.g. cars, videogames, televisions...you get the point).
That is also why Halo was a success and why Halo PC multiplayer is not. A lot of REAL HARDCORE research went into Halo...but the decesions behind the port to PC were subjectively made by Gearbox Exec's and Tech's, which amounted to their OPINION of what gamers wanted...not what gamers REALLY wanted, or even needed. Oh well, in life you either take the scientific approach and get your intended results, or you take the path of the artist and hope for the best.
Every new game should strive to incorporate all the things people like about old games and remove all the things people hate, even though the new games might seem to be the same...it is way more efficient and allows better allocation of time on the stuff we like..or do you prefer games like doom3 that spent too long on the all-new game engine but not enough time on developing the levels? Or even better, don't you like how every single PC game "re-invents" joystick/gamepad contols? Jezus..how hard is it to just use the standard x,y,z times 2 configuration that every console has used since dual anolog was invented???
Oh well, if BF1942 was a success I hope people learn from it and incorporate it into new ideas, and keep doing it forever and ever. Don't waste time and money reinventing, copy the basics so you can focus your resources on developing true innovations.
Now, have fun with this little tea party know as Halo PC Multiplayer...But I'm off to WAR...a real war..out in space...amoung the STARs...need to think of a good name for that, like the wordsmith George Lucas...what shall we call a story about a War that takes place amoung the Stars....Hmmmm, I'll have to get back with you on that.
