I was just reading an article in OXM about F.E.A.R., which btw looks awesome, but they had something that you'll see pop up in games occasionally called "Instant Action." Generally, this game sets your character in a no storyline battle until you die, with an endless amount of opponents constantly barraging you until you do die.
Games like the Mechwarrior series, most flight sim's, and generally sim's have this function, although for an action fps it would work well. FEAR will have it for the 360 version, and rumors are flying high that it will include tons of achievements to earn.
But this would work great in halo, especially if it can be done cooperatively. If you (and maybe a friend) don't want to go on xbl and don't want to go through the campaign, you can do Instant Action and have a buttload of fun.
