i just thought, how about adding a kind of built-in modding tool ? that would allow you tu modify everything, add new spawn points etc, that might makes modders stop modding. why he hell ? well, they hacks because they sucks, and obviousely can't be fair, and win in a loyal way, so give everyone the possibility to mod
but you're gonna say that the game wont even be playable online (we'll have dual infinite rocker lauchers while overshield plus infinite camo and instant-kill bullets, for every noobs-players) and damn, you're true
but what if we add a kind of servers that you could select (you have a list of servers to choose, and servers specs are sent to you, just like in halo:ce)
that would mean you could play on maps that you like a lot (and hence NOT playing on maps you hate with GT you hate) and, if you wanna have fun, go on a "cheating" server (which will modify every stats for everything, like physics, strenght, etc)
or another solution could simply be to block users having modded data (that they could clean easily, since it would be an official mode) to go on XBL, they would NOT be able to play online
i personaly think it's a good idea, besides, it can enhance even further the life-time of the game (tired of playing only against one kind of enemy ? change him, and fight against tons of humans >=) )
i am not saying modding on XBL should be accepted, neither i'm encouraging people to mod, but this could be an interesting idea ? sure, modder would still cheat, but that would add both fun and the game would last longer, at least in SP

EDIT : not a cheating server, that would suck, that's sure
what i meant, was : a server where everything would be modified : physics, weapons, etc, but every players have the same specifications

more or less
map editors are used to change maps size and looking, not modifying stats of characters/weapons/etc >.< but that's a pretty good sum up :p

Think of the consequences. If Bungie were to make a modding tool for the game then what keeps actual modders from getting banned?!

Do none of you have a sense of humour?
We do, this just isn't funny.

People mod to run fast, auto aim and do other pathetically advantaged stuff... I dont think a map editor can do this.

it would solve alot of ideas, like instead of just haveing a pelican, you can make your own in custom pelican!! and other things

actual modder get banned because they play on XBL
i am talking of a ingame toll that WONT be used online, because it would automaticly either erase modded data (everything will go unmodded then) or just notice you that you CANT play on XBL

That's not too bad of an idea...

I like the idea of a map editor better though, that would be hella crazy. Also, customizable things, like making a pelican pitch black with a white stripe down the middle, or Master Chief's armor can be separately colored on each part.

I love that word....customizable...*shudders*

Also, I think it wouldn't be too bad of an idea if you could use mods on offline split screen or just, how I say, "play" with mods on a map by yourself, or with people. That would be teh fun. It would give Hog Wars a whole new perspective.

~Edited for spelling errs...lol~

Well, if it was used in game, then you could like make master chief look like a flower.
Then the plot would look really stupid........
Not for me.

Why would Bungie want to design and implement a way for people to ruin the integrity of their game?

Cheating server?

Worst idea ever.

As my baseball coach would put it, "Are you on drugs?".

But, I maybe see what you mean, although I think it is a bad solution because it will just make things messy.

Yeah, the cheater server thing is a no no. The editing map thing wouldn't be hard...Farcry did it, and it turned out great, even though you could make huge ass mountains and stuff, it would be fun. It could be used only for like, LANs or split-screen or even custom games. Map-making wouldn't be too hard, if Farcry can do it, Bungie and Halo 3 can do it.

im not saying making brand new levels, but simply to edit them
and i dont asked everyone's view on it if i knew it wouldnt be balanced, but think of people that never find a game too hard, they could AT LEAST find the perfect challenge : no allies, even less life than in legendary, etc

lmao, that would rocks
but more seriousely, lets say that you could use this mode only after you finished the game
and anyway, it's supposed to offer new way of having fun
