It says in the Halo 3 game manual (not the ODST one) that ony Spartans are strong enough to rip a turret from it's stand, so how are the ODST's able to do it?

How can a blow from Dutch send 2 guys and a brute chieftain flying?

How can Doomguy run 80mph and punch enemies so hard that they disintegrate?

How can the Security Officer reload double-barrel shotguns by twirling them around with one hand?

How can a spartan flip over any vehicle by giving it a stern look?

Usually it's best to not think too hard about little details like that. They don't really matter.

Were it so easy...

Turrets were designed so only a single typical marine could assemble/disassemble the assembly. The turret uses a twist-n-lock to keep it attached to the tri-pod base. An ODST simply twists the turret to disengage the twist-n-lock, then lifts the turret straight up off the tri-pod.

Now, a only a Spartan has the strength to shred the tri-pod without taking the time to disengage the mechanism.

All TIC, of course....

agreed

i found it bizarre Master Chiefs armour weighs half a ton, shouldn't you be able to kill units by jumping on them?

And shouldn't this Grunt get crushed by the weight of this object he's towing?

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Gameplay reasons.

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

This question reminds that ODSTs can jump higher than Spartan IIIs in gameplay. Logic!

I ♥ Bungie!

Because they are cool like that, I don't know really. Mainly for gameplay.

Normally you need overalls to pull that kind of stunt.

"To me, a nice triple kill with the sniper is infinitely more impressive than any Living Dead Killionaire"

Does flaming people on forums count as an esport?

I'm a commendation/achievement/statistics freak.

The same reason they can use hammers, flip vehicles by hand, and carry 12 grenades at a time.

I know that was simply an added gameplay mechanic so people wouldn't -blam!-, but what got me mad was that the ODST's run faster with the turret than the spartans, like WTF?

  • 07.08.2012 1:12 PM PDT

I thought the exact same thing! The game actually says that and yet ODSTs can do it! I understand its just for gameplay, but its just a weird thing.

Spartans are from Venus and Elites are from Uranus

Cuz Bungie makes rules so they can break em. Just look at Reach.
