Subject: One Theme of the behind the scenes Documentary that I picked up on.

Thought out the documentary they kept repeating "This is what the game will look like" (not a direct quote) Am I the only one who remembers the whole Halo 2 Trailer mess up where they spent months making a game that 1). Was never used. 2). Was too advanced for the original X-Box 3). That had to be scrapped altogether.

I realize this game is easily a year away maybe even more so I just hope Bungie has learned from their many, many mistakes and ships the game they promise to deliver. Or even better yet a FINISHED Game. It took a major patch to make the game relatively glitch free. With stuff that the soccer moms missed like pulling the flag though walls.

So here is hoping that the people at Bungie remember and have learned from this mistake.

The fan boys may flame away now.............. but remember sheep often get led to the slaughter.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

The Halo 2 trailer was pre rendered. This is actual gameplay, scripted, but still ingame, being filmed by a "camera" so to speak. That means, this is what the game will look like.

What's funny is how they said they've been working on Halo 3 all this time BUT--In the documentary it was like that was all they had completed and they were going to strive to make the game look as good as the trailer.

Does Bungie have nothing after E3...AGAIN?!

The only pre-rendered part was the end. The rest the guy played through.

That was E3 2003. He's refering to E3 2002, Halo 2's announce.

Clearly Bungie has alot more of H3 done then they did for H2 after E3. Since they did say that the part from the trailer does take place 1/3 through the game! And not to mention the multiplayer is up and running!(I'm sure i read that in a weekly update somewhere)

at E3 2002, i doubt that they finished the game engine completely. thats only about >1 year into development, of course they had to pre-render graphics, it was just saying that another one did exist. it came out two years later, while H3 comes a year after its trailer

Bungie started on Halo 3 right after they finished Halo 2. How do you live yourself for even saying such things about Bungie?

I live quite well I also use correct grammar but the flaws of the American schooling system are not the point of this forum.

I am just stating a known fact that in 2002 at E3 Bunige showed a Trailer that was as time has shown to be completely fabricated/pre-rendered and had no impact on the "completed" game that Halo 2 was and all the while they where like this is what the game is going to be like this "massive battle for earth" yea it was massive an entire level was devoted to it. I Hope Bunige stopped Listening to Micro$oft and they make the game that THEY Intended to if anything Halo 2 should have been on the 360 but some "fanboys" couldn’t stop pissing and moaning and wait the extra time. God bless the power of the herd mentality. BAHHHHHHHHHH

Oh and for you fan boys who are like well if you don’t like it stop playing or blah blah blah I Still enjoy this game when its legit which is probably about 60-70% (not a scientific number just a personal estimate) of the time. The game is done well but even Bungie has admitted with not only in the DVD but with the patches that It Could have been done so much better.

The Halo 2 announce trailer was not pre-rendered, it just wasn't real-time. The Halo 3 Announce Trailer is real-time. That should say something about our confidence level regarding "how things will look."

Yeah I see where this original poster is going and I have to agree. I felt very dissapointed that many of the features and overall gameplay and feel of the single player video they showed us for halo 2 were in no way part of the actual halo 2 game. You can see in the few earth levels that they did try to cram in many of the things they showed off to us but they were still just plopped in their last minute (the large covie cannons on the beach not actually doing anything in any way) the spare firing mode on the BR, and numerous other little bits of gameplay and over all feel that was sort of lost in the actual making of the game. I only hope that bungie paces it's self so that they may make a game that they can honestly say they feel is complete. Such as if under a month after the game is released there are serious problems that require dl patches to fix problems in game play that are relatively simple to find then that should be a clear signal that the game was not finished properly. Along with the whole fill in, in most cut scenes not being picked up on through out the production process and there not being a simple put in a loading screen solution or such.

I'm really just hoping they take their time and just make the game to their honest best because with my bungie history I know that when bungie really tries, their results are magnificant. I'm hoping that the sloppyness of halo 2 was only a minor dirty spot on their clean reputation but if future bungie titles have similar issues then perhaps the bungie of old (pre - corporate) may be dead completely.

We didn't show anything at E3 in 2002. In fall 2002 we had a non-real time but xbox rendered teaser trailer (the jumping out the station clip). This showed off a lighting engine that we were toying with, but ultimately didn't use for various reasons.

At E3 2003, we showed a real-time play through of a test level using real assets. Nobody ever said it was a real level, it was a demonstration to show off various new aspects of gameplay. At E3 2004, Halo 2 Multiplayer was on display, and people got to play 12 person 1 Flag CTF on Zanzibar.

Before you start professing inside knowledge about the development history of Halo 2, at least get the public information right.

its probably just me, but i think they should play test the game for a month, and glitch test it for another month. like a month of finding glitches in their own game so they can fix them. don't know how you guys feel about that.

*my dad works at M$*
During halo 2 development there was play testing, and glitch testing. While people think there were many glitches in the finished product, you should have sceen the beta version. You could (by holding down x) fire the shotgun 4 times per second and other stuff like that.

P.S. if you say im BSing you about being in the beta, I dont cair.
P.S.S. to the mods/Bungie people, this does not violate the NDA since it has been more then 6 months from halo 2's launch

the reason why this wont happen is because the 360 just came out and theres tons of things that are still unknown about the hardware infact halo 3 will most likley look better than what we are seeing

My rich ass friend has a projection in his room and he had the trailer on his 360, it looked just as good as it did on my TV.

Wow. A lot of you haven't done your research, have you? And a lot of you are uneducated to the facts either.

None of you have any technical know-how of what it takes to create such a wonderful game.

Stop making assumptions, when you don't know the facts.
