Ha Bezerko that was mildly amusing. As for Achronos post I do not claim to have "insider information" when I said the soccer mom remark I meant it in the sense of lack of implied depth that the testing went though.
Nor did I mention anything about 2004. My main focus was on the original trailer and the hype that surrounded it. When it is all said and done if I am told hey here is what the game will be like it will have this, this and this, and maybe a few surprises then cool I’m all for that. But deliver what you say you are going to. Even the mighty Achronos has to admit that the game did seam slapped together in places and it required additional work post release. I mean it wasn’t as glitched as say Big Mother Truckers (for those who do not know it is an old X-Box game that was horribly crapped together, rent it for a good laugh) and I know people are like well they where under a deadline to get it out in time. Everything has a deadline but even I can go up to a boss or a professor and be like hey this is what I have, this is what you asked for we both know it is not the same can I have another week (or in this case 6 months) to finish. For example the Superman Returns video game has been pushed back by the developer for reasons unknown. I would like to think it was due to development reasons and the developer wanting to break the mold of non enjoyable Superman games that have come before it.
As for this comment:
"This showed off a lighting engine that we were toying with, but ultimately didn't use for various reasons."
In the bonus DVD with the collector edition (which I own) I believe one person stated (and again not using direct quotes don’t care to take the time to watch the entire thing again not for lack of research but for just being lazy I do to much research in my graduate studies) that they had to scrap the engine they used for the tests due to the X-Box's inability to support it. That was one of the reasons you ended up using the existing engine which still pushes the processing power of the X-Box at times.
In the end when I spend my $60+ dollars on the next go around (including taxes additional maps/skins/any additional content I may purchase) I just want to feel like I spent it on a product that was true to it's marketing and feels like a finished product at launch. Something Micro$oft has a habit of failing at. OH and by the way I believe there are new forms of modding that I have witnessed in the past few days but I’m sure you are probably already aware of that.
I am not looking for a big debate or anything of that ilk I Just wanted to express my take on your documentary and how I felt it related to works of Bungie’s past.
I leave you all with this:
"I could be bound in a nutshell and count myself king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams"
