Subject: One Theme of the behind the scenes Documentary that I picked up on.

Ha Bezerko that was mildly amusing. As for Achronos post I do not claim to have "insider information" when I said the soccer mom remark I meant it in the sense of lack of implied depth that the testing went though.
Nor did I mention anything about 2004. My main focus was on the original trailer and the hype that surrounded it. When it is all said and done if I am told hey here is what the game will be like it will have this, this and this, and maybe a few surprises then cool I’m all for that. But deliver what you say you are going to. Even the mighty Achronos has to admit that the game did seam slapped together in places and it required additional work post release. I mean it wasn’t as glitched as say Big Mother Truckers (for those who do not know it is an old X-Box game that was horribly crapped together, rent it for a good laugh) and I know people are like well they where under a deadline to get it out in time. Everything has a deadline but even I can go up to a boss or a professor and be like hey this is what I have, this is what you asked for we both know it is not the same can I have another week (or in this case 6 months) to finish. For example the Superman Returns video game has been pushed back by the developer for reasons unknown. I would like to think it was due to development reasons and the developer wanting to break the mold of non enjoyable Superman games that have come before it.

As for this comment:
"This showed off a lighting engine that we were toying with, but ultimately didn't use for various reasons."

In the bonus DVD with the collector edition (which I own) I believe one person stated (and again not using direct quotes don’t care to take the time to watch the entire thing again not for lack of research but for just being lazy I do to much research in my graduate studies) that they had to scrap the engine they used for the tests due to the X-Box's inability to support it. That was one of the reasons you ended up using the existing engine which still pushes the processing power of the X-Box at times.

In the end when I spend my $60+ dollars on the next go around (including taxes additional maps/skins/any additional content I may purchase) I just want to feel like I spent it on a product that was true to it's marketing and feels like a finished product at launch. Something Micro$oft has a habit of failing at. OH and by the way I believe there are new forms of modding that I have witnessed in the past few days but I’m sure you are probably already aware of that.

I am not looking for a big debate or anything of that ilk I Just wanted to express my take on your documentary and how I felt it related to works of Bungie’s past.

I leave you all with this:
"I could be bound in a nutshell and count myself king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams"

This is how the game will look? What you saw in the trailer is a campaign level if you like. With a camera floating around watching someone play as master chief kinda. altho he was probly programmed to move in the style he was.

If you noticed all of the Halos used the ingame graphics in the cut scenes.

Yeah I see where this original poster is going and I have to agree. I felt very dissapointed that many of the features and overall gameplay and feel of the single player video they showed us for halo 2 were in no way part of the actual halo 2 game. You can see in the few earth levels that they did try to cram in many of the things they showed off to us but they were still just plopped in their last minute (the large covie cannons on the beach not actually doing anything in any way) the spare firing mode on the BR, and numerous other little bits of gameplay and over all feel that was sort of lost in the actual making of the game. I only hope that bungie paces it's self so that they may make a game that they can honestly say they feel is complete. Such as if under a month after the game is released there are serious problems that require dl patches to fix problems in game play that are relatively simple to find then that should be a clear signal that the game was not finished properly. Along with the whole fill in, in most cut scenes not being picked up on through out the production process and there not being a simple put in a loading screen solution or such.

I'm really just hoping they take their time and just make the game to their honest best because with my bungie history I know that when bungie really tries, their results are magnificant. I'm hoping that the sloppyness of halo 2 was only a minor dirty spot on their clean reputation but if future bungie titles have similar issues then perhaps the bungie of old (pre - corporate) may be dead completely.

Yessssssssss Someone has seen the light...................... As I stated before I just want a product that doesn’t seam like it was slapped together in a rushed manner is that to much to ask...............................Thank you Mr. Pink for the support I know there must be more then two people who enjoy the game yet are aware of its initial shortcomings which I hope are not repeated in H3. Please let your voice be known do not fear the fanboys who know nothing other then flame wars. This is not an attack on their beliefs merely one person trying to shed some light in a dark corner.

I think to get a really polished product, you have to get rid of anything that takes up an inordinate amount of development time and only adds a marginal (if any) technical benefit to the game. Bots, anyone?

I never saw the purpose of Bots I have played pc games like counter strike and bots just were not the same thing as going up against people. It’s a vastly different experience then the AI; people have a habit of doing the unexpected. I don’t mind getting killed in the game when it was via an odd means. There is something to be said for the human element of the experience of an online game. Even if that other person is a whiny, foul mouthed, standbying 12 year olds.

P.S. This is not a bump I was on vacation and had my post bookmarked.
