Was it apple? I thought they did it at Mac world, or something like that.
BUNGIE did it at Mac World...

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

Same.

I'm counting ODST as the last Bungie-made halo since (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think Reach isn't considered canon.

Take out the double negative and you just said:
"I think Reach is considered canon." - you're right, but why would that mean ODST was the last Bungie-made Halo? Regardless, the canonicity of Reach's plot would have nothing to do with the fact that Bungie did in fact make it.

Does anyone even read these?

After the contract didn't Microsoft lead it into a new direction? Like a first person instead of 3rd person? It looked very different when it was first announced. But maybe Microsoft played no part in that.
MS played no part. I was unable to find the video on youtube which explains Jason Jones decided on the perspective, but I have it on my computer and am now in the process of uploading it.

Edit: here you go; apparently it had something to do with narcotics
Ah cool, cheers Tom!

If you watched the movie "O Brave New World", Bungie originally created the Halo game before Microsoft could claim it.

They sold the Halo title to Microsoft because they had a financial crisis back then. It was like their only hope to make the studio everlasting.

Halo 4 look's like it will turn out to be a great game. Just because it's not made by Bungie doesn't mean you can't play it.

Oh, nice catch. My intended sentence was "I think Reach isn't considered canon."

If Reach isn't canon, it's technically not part of the halo universe. The events therein would have no meaningful connection to any events in the established universe. In short, it doesn't count. Yes, bungie did make it, but it doesn't mean anything in the large scope of things. As far as the Halo story is concerned, the events of ODST were bungie's last contribution.

I came up with it.

  • 06.05.2012 7:21 PM PDT

Jason Jones announced Halo at the 1999 Macworld expo while standing next to Steve Jobs.

... Microsoft wasn't involved at the time

But it is canon so... Yeah.

OT:I think it's been answered enough. You should give Halo 4 a try though. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Hi there! be sure to click that homepage link!

What? Why on earth would you have a doubt that Bungie didn't bring up the concept and Microsoft did?

Bungie did eet.

Sadly Halo 4 may not be by Bungie, but always remember that it wouldn't exist if it weren't for them.

I know the voices in my head are not real, but they have some great ideas.

Yes Bungie developed the games but did they come up with the Halo idea or did Microsoft? I have a bit of a commitment towards Bungie having played their games going all the way back to Pathways into Darkness and Marathon when I was only 9 years old. So I am unsure if I'll be able to get into Halo 4 if it was actually Bungie's idea.
It would be like if some other gaming company other than Capcom came out with a Street Fighter for example, it just wouldn't be the same.

Bungies idea, it was showcased at Macworld in 1999 as an RTS to start with (I think I got the date right)
The started to evolve into a FPS then MS saw the potential and bought them.

And MS owns the IP, and a chunk of ex-Bungie guys are at 343i so Halo should be in good hands

Bungie came up with it. Microsoft swooped in and made it an exclusive and launch title for the Xbox. IIRC Bungie originally unveiled Halo at some Apple event.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

Bungie were in financial trouble after the Myth II re-call which carried over in their attempt to create Halo. Microsoft offered funding provided that they became an X-Box exclusive.

I am a very pestamistic person. I see the glass half empty, even when it's full. Dont expect much from me.

Bungie's Idea. Cause Halo was originally going to be Mac only. But then Microsoft came in and was like "Hey bungie I got money... you want it?" and then Bungie was like "YEAH!!!!!" and then the evilness grew in microsofts eyes. Then Bungie was like "MICROSOFT, Y U GET TO OWN HALO?" and Microsoft was like "WE OWN HALO -blam!-" and Bungie was like "fine.... we independant now noob" and Microsfot was like "YOU STILL HAVE TO HOLD TO YOUR CONTRACT" and Bungie was like "ok... see you in 3 years!!"

And then the would became awesome :)

I love Halo, I have played it since the beginning, even though I may not have had Xbox Live back then. Marathon is also a pretty good game. I have been here on Bungie.net longer but got a new account and I am looking forward to Bungie's next game. My old account got hacked.

Thank You Bungie! For the best games and Recon Armor. Also thanks for the early access to the Halo: Reach Beta!

Of course it was Bungie, the game was originally going to come out on Macintosh. Microsoft just stole Bungie away from Apple.

Then in my eyes Halo Reach will forever be the last Halo game. I can not play Halo 4.

Alot of ex-Bungie employees work for 343, Frank O'Connor is franchise development director so its in fairly safe hands. Have you seen the E3 reveal? It looks pretty darn good to me.
How the hell is this rumor still going around? 343 has 3-5 ex-Bungie employees.

BUNGIE 7/7 FOREVER

Bungie made it up, originally going to be a RPG until some guy wanted FPS since Bungie was going for extreme action, I guess.

After revealing it at a Mac expo, Microsoft then wanted to acquire the rights to it.

Macworld '99 if I'm not mistaken.

You are not. It looked much different back then.
