I was watching the behind the scenes footage for the Halo 3 trailer, and towards the end, they said something that made me wonder. Towards the end, they said "We want this to be a 'Return of The King.'" Think beyond the Lord of the Rings movies. What if he meant "We want this to be a return of The King." As if the Chief was some kind of king or important beingon Earth(of course he's important because he's the one that's going to save it). What if MC is something more than just a "super-soldier"? Post any theories on this idea here.

Edit: Spelling...everyone makes mistakes

Well, O'Donnel is borrowing some of the music from LOTR's music (in a "slip" by his co-worker). So, perhaps that is one main source of their inspiration?

Maybe but this will all lead into another theroy. but it would be cool if he was something more like they needed him to do something.

You should of made up your own instrument. You could have named it the PolarLighting -a-phone. People would buy it and they would all be like "Awh, He's so cool for inventing the PolarLighting-a-phone."

Pr maybe it was just an expression, you know? The chief being like a king to us and all...

Stop saying theroy, its THEORY.
You know Theroy? Perhaps you mean Leroy? Leeroy? Leeroy Jenkins? Ohhh, now I see...
LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOYYYY----uhh no.

I don't think Master chief is more than a super soldier, I think he's just a super soldier.

Maybe it was just an expression, but with Bungie, you never know. All we can do is have fun with all this theorizing and wait until they(or highly intelligent community members that found something) release more info.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that he was recruited when he was 6 and he did not live on Earth for the majority of his life. I don't mean "king" as in a monarchy. I refer to "king" as something more than a super soldier. Everyone please calm down about reading the books, or this topic will be locked by a moderator, and I (and everyone else) don't want to see the same topic posted again. Now back on topic. I don't mean "king" in that way. What I'm trying to say, is simple:

What if MC is meant to be more than a Super Soldier in Halo 3?

Saying this, I mean anything more than just any average human, or Spartan in that matter.

What if the Master chief turned out to be Elvis? Return of the King.

A King among kings, perhaps?

lol, he wasnt refering to anyone being a "King" of any kind. He was refering (2 r's?) to the effect and style and impact the "Return of The King" had on the LoTR community.

Maybe a new group of Spartan's are released? It wouldn't be very hard to work that into the story line.

"We've been training more Spartans." - Hood

"Oh." - MC

I don't doubt that.

I think both movies share common underlying themes.

No.

He ment that it would be an epic end to an epic series. All the loose ends will be tied up, just like "Return of the King".

When Bungie says stuff, it usualy isn't literal until after a game is released... in general they use symblization in all of their games. The Ark isn't a boat, they make literary refrences to many things "The Ark of the Covenant" from the Bible and such... therefore I am willing to bet that the King is alluding to some type of Ruller position... maybe over the sepratist Covenant (they do have a caste system of Gov't)... but who knows...

I think they usued that analogy to symbolize the end of a great trillogy. nothing more.

You there. Hey you there! I shake my stick at you......

Every time a church bell rings Mr T Pities a fool

What they clearly meant was that it would end with MC engageing in some impromptu folk singing and then a group of pixie faced gimps would turn up to look serene as the last halo ring sailed off to the land of make believe.

The arbiter would also hug MC and say 'I sure so love you' after a visceral blood letting against a hoarde of anorexic cgi puppets doomed to forever speak with lisps.

Its so obvious I fail to see how anyone could have possibly missed it.

Perhaps it means that will after the action is all done, we will have to sit through hald an hour of cutscenes MC saying good-bye t0 his friends.
