This is what my brother and I believe to be the basic outcome of some of the plotlines in the Halo universe.

1) Truth knows that the Halo rings are not a path to salvation but weapons of mass destruction. He has decided to use this knowledge to make himself ruler of the galaxy. First, he wanted Regret dead. Master Chief gave him his wish. To back this up, I refer now to Cortana's quote in the level "Regret"; she says: "Killing Regret might shake up the Covenant hierarchy, but it sounds like you might be doing Truth a favor." Next, Truth got rid of the Elites. He could see that there was dissention among the Elites. He fostered this by ordering the cruisers back allowing Master Chief to escape. The final nail in the coffin was when the Prophets recommissioned the Honor Guard and "demoted" the Elites. The Elites subsequently resigned from the High Council. Then (after Gravemind) Truth allows Mercy to die by one of the little Flood parasites. Now, with the other two hierarchs eliminated, Truth is the unquestioned leader of the Covenant and the Brutes, unlike the Elites, are not smart enough to question his authority. Truth can now travel to The Ark (Earth) which will allow him and his soldiers to live while he activates the Halo rings and obliterates all other sentinent life in the galaxy, making him Lord over the galaxy.

2) We also believe that it is possible that humans are the descendants of the Forerunners who were preserved on The Ark. It is important to note that the inner surface of the Halo rings are surprisingly Earth-like and the structures resemble human structures including size. It makes perfect sense that humans would have neither memory nor record of this fact being that most of the forerunners died over a 100,000 years ago. As for the severe difference between Forerunner technology and human technology of the 24th century, it's probable that a planet-wide catastrophe could have set humans/forerunners back that far. Clearly, however, humans have some special relationship to the Forerunners as the "Oracle" designated Penitent Tangent immediately recognized Master Chief as a "reclaimer" when they were both in the clutches of Gravemind.

P.S. If anyone can prove this wrong or has any further theories please post.

Dawn of the Dead video Here
6 Minutes of Hell video here

Well your theories are well thought out, and probably accurate, you fail to prove any signifigant point. We pretty much know Truth wants supreme control, and most people on here already believe the forerunner are our ancestors.

Okay, well while most people might agree with us, I have yet to read anyone form their thoughts and ideas into some sort of intellegent post. People usually express themselves more along the lines of:
"Holy crap! do you think humans are descended from the f***ing forerunners and how does MC take a dump in his armor?"

I think their will be some kind of Ghost in the game because in the trailer right after Cortana says "I am your sheild. I am your sword." a weird symbol pops like a circle with a half line in it and that same symbol in the Ghost vehicles in the game.

My one problem with this theory. I would say Halo is more inimical to the Covenant because, in Halo 1 at least, the trees look crazy. Most notable are the green, bubbly trees, found both in the swamp on "343 Guilty Spark" and "Gravemind." The only creatures that look unable to fit through the doors on Halo are Hunters, but they can probably change shape like an octopus when not wearing armor. In fact, everybody but the grunts look happy on Halo.

That is also my theory, I also believe the Chief ( or Arbitor ) will have to wipe out the Flood by blowing up High Charity.

I stoped it and it does not have the 3 in the middle of it.

Your right, but it is not a Ghost symbol either.
I think it is just the H3 symbol without a 3, or is the 3 the unmaterialised flash

But this is getting a bit off the topic of the nice theory.

Look on the wing where the booster things are the circle with the line are their.

But why would we need reasuring of the re-intergration of the Ghost, no it can not be the Ghost symbol. I just think the line is a 3 that has not formed properly.

i have a slightly different and shorter idea
My personal theory is as follows-

Halo isnt just a weapon, it can bend space and time, it can go back and fourth through time to prehaps escape the Flood, and the Forerunners are humans from the future that is why 343 Guilty Spark reconized the Master Chief in Halo 1, and they're humans maby also because they evolved on Earth as evidence of this Forerunner artifact or a.k.a. "The Arch" left behind, and mentioned in the end of halo 2 by 343, also maby Gavemind may have told Cortana that Halo could use time-travel, so she now understands what happens from to loggs of Halo or somthing, of what happened thats why in this she says, "I know you, your past, your future." And how she is able to say, "This is how the world ends." In addition I have noticed that Forerunner engineering has taken a similar path to our own.
In the end Earth is destroyed and the Chief somehow escapes, as usual, frees Cortana, uses Halo's time-travel technology (with Cortana's help) to go back and save earth by useing High Charity to help defend against the Covenanat.

And so u know i just came up wit this idea by watching the halo 3 E3.

Fight hard, break bones >{o

He has decided to use this knowledge to make himself ruler of the galaxy

what "galaxy" would he be ruler of? first off he would have to get far enough away to not be killed as well and if he used it there would only be the sentinals left for him to rule. if he threatens any1 with it then thats one way (actually rather possible) but im sure the arbiter would come up behind him with his cloak and kill him then the game would end!

also the Brutes arent neccesarily dumb, they just know their place and want to get higher. the elites have been part of the Covenant for a long time and so they have had longer to ask questions (the heretics and now the Arbiter). also i believe all the races in the covenant (including brutes) where enslaved, so the Brutes would have to do what they where told.
so i think Tarterus wanted more power so he had his brutes obey the prophets every wish and he probably planned on betraying Truth once they where in the place Halo is supposed to take them.

If the forerunners could bend space and time, then wouldn't they have just traveled back in time to the point where the flood started, and maybe eliminated the whole problem before it ever got out hand? I think your theory is solid, but i think its also too much speculation. I dont think halo is going to deal to heavily with time travel. - Alan

Time-travel is not the way of Halo, If they went back in time the Forerunners would not exist in the future.
