Can't players tell when a betrayal is done on purpose and when one is done by accident these days?
I got booted from two seperate Invasion games because I accidentally betrayed 3 of my teammates (2 in one game and 1 in the other).

Does anyone else find the system overused or is it just my luck?

spiral out

Most people on Reach just boot because they are presented with the option. But then again, most people on Reach are under the age of 13.

Its not difficult to differentiate what is intentional or accidental and players just cant resist the temptation I guess.

You were booted because you weren't required.

It's some luck, but not the luck of the Irish. :P

<(-_-)> Teh mokey is not amused

I'd swear people are constantly spamming the x button hoping they get the chance to boot someone. If I get a betrayal I'm usually booted before the announcer can finish the word.

Also this.

I was a finalist :P

Not from my experience. I rarely - from recollection - have been booted for an accidental betrayal.

Usually having a microphone and alerting them it was an accident is enough to prevent people from clicking "accept to boot", or them using their own knowledge to tell it was an accident. More and more people are starting to only boot for the most blatant of purposeful betrayals; at least from what I've seen.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

Why are you getting three betrayals in the span of two games?

You deserve to be booted just for being careless.

Do you honestly think it's my fault for my teammates actions? If they see a Wraith spawn-killing the enemy that should be a big enough hint that thry should stay away.

They know when it's accidental they just know that booting scrubs will help the team win(aka you)

Oh look, another tough guy with no GT linked.

I. rarely boot, but the people I play with boot every chance they get. Even it its the best player on our team. I think its fun for them to ruin another persons game, accident or not.

Yes I think it's your fault.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

The entire booting system is a fail.
If it's an accidental betrayal, then you have a 99% chance of getting booted.
If you deliberately betray a person, you have a 1% chance of getting booted.
I hopw they are close to fixing this soon.

it really does seem to work this way. Even in h3. I'll even admit, I was griefing a kid in h3 yesterday because I got sniper and he betrayed me for it without even giving me a chance to use it. I betrayed him once on purpose, to get it back. I then followed him around for a little while taking his shields down and ended up accidentally killing him again.... nonetheless no boot and he invited me to play after lol

If you have a really clean betrayal record, it takes a few betrayals before you get the boot. I go probably days without betrayals. Sometimes weeks. The last time I can remember betraying somebody, I racked up 3 in one match on Boardwalk due to some bad grenades/rockets. I wasn't booted.

If you betray consistently, say one per match, eventually that catches up with you and you'll get booted instantly after a betrayal even if it is your first one from that game.

Ultimately, I've seen if you are just careful about your grenades and where your teammates are (i.e. NOT putting Wraith shots at a group of bad guys until AFTER they kill your half-wit teammates) you'll be fine.

I don't like how most people just blindly mash the x button when the popup comes up, regardless of whether the betrayal was intentional or not.

  • 06.07.2012 11:23 AM PDT

I get pissed when people betray me I feel like its there own stupidity and should be more careful if I feel it is boot worthy I boot them.

This and once their presented with the option they press that button without even thinking.

  • 06.07.2012 2:20 PM PDT

Anonymity.

Some will boot regardless if it was just an accident.

  • 06.07.2012 2:22 PM PDT

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

Obligatory lol Invasion. But seriously, why are you playing alone? Randoms will never know for sure if you did it on purpose or not. Hell, if I'm not partied with someone and the option comes up they're gone.

  • 06.07.2012 2:24 PM PDT

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

Agreed.

You should only boot people who betray on purpose.
This is normally easy to tell because they are idiots.

Ie) Betray me for a vehicle or heavy weapon = I will gladly boot you.

Betray me, because I ran into your grenade or rocket = Forgive.

Your in a tank or banshee = forgive.

  • 06.07.2012 11:35 PM PDT

Still better than you.

.....most of you, at least.

Doesn't bother me, cause I don't betray (bar a few.... unfortunate grenades), unless its deliberate, in which case I don't care if I'm getting booted.

Yeah, there are, those who don't/can't are rather pretty young.

I think a lot of it has to do with Reach's terrible Matchmaking system as a whole an lack of ranks as well, people get betrayed so often because of it for stupid reasons and they're just tired of it already and just boot when they see the option.
