So I'm pretty darn sure Guilty Spark is back with a vengeance some how.... I know we shot him with a big ol' lazer... But I'm sure it's him. The red logo kind of appears to be like his red eye when he is in berserk mode. What do you guys think?

Guilty Spark... really? No.

It's the didact... Thats HIS symbol. Although, people are questioning why its upside-down.

Not GS... End of story.

From what I know, he basically is... Just, not the original...
You know RvB? Think of Church, and how Alpha is dead, but Epsilon is basically him, but still someone different...

You may or may not get the refference, but thats the best I can do, lol.

Both yes and no, but mostly yes. The Didact before him is integrated in his mind.

//Spoiler//
Bornsteller was a forerunner youth who ran away from his family and mentors to hunt for Precurser treasure with a couple of humans. (One of the humans (Chakas) is later taken and turned into 343 Guilty Spark.) They find the Didact in a cryptum (the sphere in the E3 demo) The Didact implant himself into Bornsteller and eventually is executed by Fabar (The Master Builder) blah blah blah.

Long story short, Bornsteller (the current Didact) is pro human and is most likely NOT THE ENEMY. Chances are it's a shard of Mendicant Bias that found its way to the Halo above Requiem.

In halo CEA terminals it was stated that if anything happend to 1 of the halo's the didact would be very displeased so we very well could be

You are all so briliant! I've been out of the Halo Universe for about two years and I didn't learn about this stuff. How did you find out about the Didact? I read all those terminals but I had no idea who it was and I did the Iris thing, but I didn't know who that was either. I just googled it.

Oh, so this is some details I missed from Halo Anniversary?

343 Guilty Spark: Vexation! 100,000 years of careful maintenance and diligence! 100,000 years protecting the galaxy's future! 100,000 years spent fearing that our sacrifices - my sacrifice - was in vain!

John-117 appears with a rocket launcher, combating the Flood.

343 Guilty Spark: And 16 hours after I finally make contact... This so-called Reclaimer decides to blow it all up.

343 Guilty Spark appears with a holographic projection of the Installation 04.

343 Guilty Spark: Oh, I am not pleased. Just as I finally discover our plan to save the galaxy succeeded, the ancient enemy is unleashed once more.

A massive battle between UNSC forces, the Covenant, and the Flood is shown.

343 Guilty Spark: Why those Reclaimers refuse to follow protocol is quite mystifying. Destroy my Installation, will they?

Spark appears again with holographic projections of the other six Installations.

343 Guilty Spark: I shall renew efforts to make contact with the others rings immediately. This "Covenant" may be useful to me, although I don't think they fully understand what they claim to seek. Still, it makes no difference to me what they believe, as long as they do what must be done. Hmmm... I sound like her!

The view zooms away from Spark's underground location, rising to a nighttime forest on the surface of Installation 04.

343 Guilty Spark: "But what I would not give to have earned a single company of Prometheans here right now. They would most certainly restore order with their trademark lethality, although...that would mean he would have to be here, too. And without the Librarian around to temper his rage, well... These Reclaimers might almost prefer the Flood."

(Sorry if I'm not fully informed, I just started reading Primordium)
This could be something very misleading. What if Spark is referring to the old Didact. Bornsteller has memories and influences from him, but is not 100% under his control. And if he is pissed at the humans and tries killing them all, that would forfeit their lineage to being Reclaimers. Seeing how Humans are the closest to Forerunners genetically and morally, that's not a very good idea for anyone. The exception is Guilty Spark and Mendicant Bias and that's because they've gone mad.

To me, the Didact just doesn't make sense as far as opposition.

It will make no sense at all at this point if the Didact is humanity's enemy . The evil fits more for Faber . So I'm guessing the Didact's symbol being upside down at the end refers to an anti-Didact which fits Faber's personality through the novels so far

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Sounded like Saren from Mass Effect. I guess Sovereign ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL wasn't enough to kill him after all...

A fragment of Medicant Bias maybe? It's most likely a Forerunner A.I. So maybe an A.I. that sided with the Prometheans when they were cast out of the Forerunner Council. It may very well be the Didact.

Anti-Christ/Anti-Didact. That makes me believe it's Faber as he is pretty much the opposite of the Didact.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Master Chief.

Obviously.

I heard he likes to talk to himself in Halo 4. O.o

Questions lead to learning, learning leads to kowledge, knowledge leads to understanding, understanding leads to peace.

"I would kill to get a killionaire... 10 times... digitally."

It's the Didact.

That's his symbol at the end of the trailer. It might be upside down to reprsent him going crazy or turning evil or whatever.

The black flying sphere seen in the trailer is a sort of indestructible cryostasis device used by the forrunners as a form of self-punishment. It makes sense the Didact would be in one of these, as he lost the fight with the flood and was forced to fire the Halo array. He might punish himself for this. It could also explain why he survived all these years.

The Prometheans (New bad guys in trailer) were the Didacts sect. Chances are if they are there, he is there too.

343 said that if a Halo was destroyed, the Didact would be most displeased. This is in one of the CEA video termials. This gives him a motive as to why he would want to kill Master Chief. It would also explain the Prometheans attcking him.

The cryostasis part of the Black sphere would have deactivated or let the Didact know of the destruction of Halo years ago (Halo Universe Time). This would explain the the whole "I've been waiting for you Reclaimer." thing that he said.

In my opinion, their are just to many coincidences shown for it not to be the Didact. But then again, the game will be out in a couple months, rendering this whole explanatio mute, as you'll just find out then.

I hope I convinced anyone reading this overly long rant of what I think. Adios!

  • 06.09.2012 10:41 PM PDT

People think the Didact is the Main Antagonist of the series
The Didact from cryptum died. He was the one that looked down on humans.
Bornstellar, The new Didact, enjoyed the company of humans and even had two human friends, Chakas/Guilty Spark, and Morning Riser.
Bornstellar listened to the librarian and fired the halos because she loved the humans.
The Didact, in the end of Primordium was at the top of his game.
He became the leader of the Forerunner's New Ecumene Council.
He made Chakas, Guilty Spark, in charge of Installation 04.
He fired the Halo Array as a last resort due to depression.
Before he fired the array he made the New Ecumene Council pass on the role of the Mantle to the Humans
and deem them as Reclaimers.
Forerunners arent the enemy. Why would the Didact who worked so hard for the humans be the antagonist of Halo:4?

Those machines are the planets Defense A.I.'s "Promethean Knights". If there is defense then theres something to protect.

Guilty Spark hijacked the infinity in primordium and says hes going to the librarian.
I know the ship was the infinity because In Glasslands they made the ship as a last resort to ensure human safety
then they designed it to look for inhabitable worlds for humans.
In Primordium, the Science team said the ships name was Classified and that it was a ship to look for inhabitable worlds.
In the E3 Trailer the person even said the infinity was made to look for inhabitable worlds, and when it
showed the infinity getting hijacked the Glyph of the Didact was present.

So since Chakas/Guilty Spark and Bornstellar/Didact were close Im sure the Didact ordered Guilty spark to
hijack the ship.

Mendicant Bias

05-032 Mendicant Bias was a Contender-class Forerunner Artificial intelligence created by the Didact. He was the most advanced Forerunner AI at the time of his creation, and was charged with organizing Forerunner defense against the Flood before his defection to the Gravemind/The Timeless One, who ultimately caused him to become rampant, and turn against his creators.

Mendicant Bias willingly became rampant and lead the flood against the Forerunners.
He is the first of few A.I. that have reached the stage of Metastability.
The Didact, seeing that Mendicant has betrayed them sends out Offensive Bias to bring Mendicant back for reprogramming.

Though Mendicant bias lost to Offensive bias, The Didact fires the halo array as a last resort due to depression and loss of hope.
In 2525, He began to repent for all his wrongdoings.
He told the Prophets that the covenant has mistaken reclamation for "Reclaimer"
and that the Humans were chosen by the Forerunner to reclaim everything the forerunners have done.
Then during halo: 3, mendicant bias talks with Master chief through a terminal and says

"And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can to keep it stable - keep you safe. I'm not so foolish to think this will absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions. But I would have my masters know that I have changed. And you shall be my example".

"I do once again betray a former master" that meaning he has betrayed the Timeless one.
"I will do all I can to keep it stable" He will do something to keep the halo stable while it fires and destroys the ark.
"To keep you safe" to Protect the Reclaimers/Humans.
