I wouldn't consider it a crash. Any landing you can walk away from. But even if they were in space, it would be far easier to just blast them out of the sky. Those 50 MLAs will kick the -blam!- out of a pelican.

But you never know if one failure to report an incoming Pelican due to sleeping, leaving post, etc. could allow a pelican full of Flood to make it to some kind of Human settelment.

And I called it a crash because they hit the ground hard enough to kill someone, and they skidded quite a few feet.

Miranda keyes say at the end of halo 2 "where the other ring could be activited?"
guilty spark answer "from the ark!"
perhaps the forunner architechture is a piece of a cannon whith other rings like deaths star but with a improve range and all canon together form a giga canon (lol)!

No, the Ark is what activates all the Halo rings at the same time. Miranda and the Arbiter wanted to know where the Ark was so they could destory it.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed, knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each brave fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives: not men, or flags.
-The Next War

miranda keyes: what is that

343 Guilty Spark: a beacon

miranda: whats it doing?

GS: communicating at super-luminal speeds with a frequency of-

Miranda: show me

GS: fail-safe protocol. in the event of unexpacted shutdown, the rings move to standby status, all remaining platforms are now ready for remote activation

Miranda: remote activation? from here?

GS: dont be rediculous

Johnson: listen tinkerbell dont make me-

Miranda: then where-where would someone go to activate the other rings

GS: why the ark of course

The Arbiter: and where oracle-is that.
