Subject: An Interesting Idea Regarding The Forums.....

Spread the love...

What if there as an option that had the ability to toggle off usernames and Avatars? That way you just see all the posts, but don't know who made them.

This would provide a totally un"biased" view of the forums. You wouldn't know who made the threads/responses. It would be very interesting.

I'm not saying this should be implemented, but what do you think?

A bit more explanation for the purpose of this:

I've seen lots of people complain on here about how some members are really popular, or Mythic Members get more attention, or other things similar to that. That's when something like this could get in handy: the only thing that would define the post would be the quality of the post, not who made it or what the poster's title is.
So basically something like this.

-hoobla-

-hoob

"Dictated but not read."

To Make Posts is Glorious

Some threads will get posts before others and it is the duty of the Leadership to ensure that posts are made that best suit the public welfare.

"heh"

Really?

Also, you claim it would be an unbiased view of the forums, yet you leave titles on in your photoshop? You've gotta be trolling.

I am not a skilled photoshopper, therefor I do not have the skills to remove the titles. That is why I said "and maybe remove the titles/bar colors as well".

It's okay, we all know you'll post a thread no matter how poorly thought it is.

  • 06.07.2012 3:34 PM PDT

Nah I'll pass on the idea, I prefere it as it is.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

What purpose does this serve? Unless you're a moderator, why should this be implemented (and it should actually cover the title bar as well; that's where most supposed 'bias' spawns from)? For us 'normal' members, I don't see any benefits that would justify adding such a feature. And Bungie would probably never do this; you're better off making a script out of this on your own than ever expecting this.

Good luck implementing quotes, by the way.

@spaboolly

Seems like a good way for people to avoid accountability for what they post.

Hoobla, there's no technicality that can override the human tendency toward bias. That only comes with maturity and understanding that people have different opinions which should be respected.

I don't like this idea. It's pointless in my opinion. I'd rather know who made the posts instead of them being anonymous.

I never really wanted Bungie to add this feature, I just wanted to know what you guys thought about it. And like I said, imagine the titles are not there.

It could be something like:

Bla bla bla.
(The "XXX" replaces all usernames)

For Carnage Apply Within

They think that they have pacified Ireland. They think that they have purchased half of us and intimidated the other half. They think that they have foreseen everything, think that they have provided against everything; but the fools, the fools, the fools! — they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Ireland holds these graves, Ireland unfree shall never be at peace

But... Titles bars are a solid colour... You can do that on m$ paint. :/

How would you know who you're quoting or who you're having a discussion with?

My guess is Hoobla's getting tired of being a regular member. Sorry Hoobla, but titles are staying.

That's the point: you wouldn't know who your quoting or having a discussion with. You would be quoting the post, not the user, so all that matters is what the post says. Also, you would be having a discussion with someone who you may or not know. So it's like the default of Forums. Only posts, no other distractions.

Also, keep in mind this could be toggled off and on. And I'm not even saying this should be implemented, it's just a thought.

I say that in each thread, posters are given a random name, something generated kinda like how XBL does Gamertags.

That's a good idea too. Although I still slightly prefer my "XXX" because then it doesn't matter who you're talking to, it's all about the actual posts.

And it'd be even more awesome because a third person could join in a discussion between two people and they wouldn't know.

  • 06.07.2012 3:55 PM PDT

I would post conversations between myself.

Hi there! be sure to click that homepage link!

That'd be fun if bungie forced us to do that for a day.

Pandemonium would ensue.

How many people are actually distracted by usernames? I can see where you're coming from with titles, but usernames?

Ok, your ideas are getting a bit out of hand.

Some are good while others don't and this one is not really a good idea in my opinion.
