Every once in awhile I stick my halo ce disk into my drive and play a little classic halo. And im sure that you guys here do also, considering that your in this forum. So I ask, after halo 3 comes out, do you guys think your interest for halo ce will calapse ?
Depends on how good Halo 3 is. Me and my friends still play Halo CE on XBC. In fact, they are coming over this weekend to play. A lot of that is because Halo 2 never really lived up to all the hype like we had hoped. Another reason, and maybe the more important is that Halo 2 (and XBox Live in general) is geared for the solo player. We tried and tried to get more than one XBox connected to play Halo 2 online from one location. It was nothing but problems. I think XBox Live and Halo 2 aren't really made for people to play together in one location, but rather from their own seperate houses. It just isn't nearly as enjoyable when we can't all sit around together and play. When XBox Live came out and we played some of the first Live games, we could see even then that it may effect Halo 2. Hell, a lot of games you can't even play online splitscreen with 2 people. We tried to play Call of Duty 2 when it came out splitscreen. Can't do it, you can only play with one person per box in multiplayer. So, on that point I'm more conviced it's an XBox Live problem than it is a Halo 2 problem.
Plus, Halo 2 has a much more zoomed in look, causing problems when trying to play splitscreen. It has a much smaller field of view, causing dissorientaion problems. When near a large object or a wall, you can loose track of what direction you are facing very easily. Hell, I do that with Halo 2 when I have the whole TV to myself. I never had that problem with Halo CE because it has a larger field of view. Meleeing with the smaller field of view in Halo 2 is hard enough to do without losing your sense of direction when it lunges you, but try it splitscreen...it's a nightmare to keep yourself oriented.
There are a lot of other reasons. One reason why I don't play Halo 2 in general (even playing by myself, not with friends) if just the inconsistancies of the game. You all know them. Shotgun not working, melee's not connecting. The other day I ran over a guy twice at full speed in the ghost and only hurt his shields. Later in the same game someone from the other team ran me over and it was instant death. I wasn't near a wall or anything. Don't know why it worked for them and not for me. Just plain inconsistant. It's very frustrating. In Halo CE, if I shoot you with a weapon, it's going to do X amount of damage EVERY time, if with lag. The only difference is the lag may prevent me from getting a clean shot. You are there one minute, gone the next. But, if I do manage to get you in my crosshairs, that shotgun will do the proper amount of damage. If I run you over in a vehicle in Halo CE, by god it's going to kill you, not push you around.
