I agree that the ability to make an alt so easily can result in some some issues here. I wish we could find some way to better regulate account creation, or at least limit it, but I don't know of any good way to do so at the moment. I don't think paid accounts are a good idea either, because while it adds inherent value to the accounts, it also comes with some notable cons. Such as discouraging new users, and adding that kind of value to accounts can and sometimes does result in more account stealing and ancillary phishing.
Instead, I'd rather we add intrinsic value to accounts, rather than financial value. The titles are a step in the right direction, but they're not getting the job done. We need to find some way to add more value to accounts without risking too much of the potential bad consequences that value entails. Certain perks for certain kinds of accounts. Like custom avatars, or a better method of self-moderating what you see as bad content. Perhaps a guaranteed spot on a future public BETA or something if your account meets certain criteria. Something like Achronos' Trust System, but one that better tabulates beneficial proclivities and doesn't encourage entitlement and noted separation among the community.
Something like the title and trust system staying in place, but with some alterations in order to make it a bit better at indicating trust. I don't know how to do that exactly...but then again I work in construction and not web design or UI. I'm sure if anyone can some up with something, its Bungie and their webteam. Though, that hinges on whether or not Bungie is at the moment interested in such a thing, which I'd guess they are not because they're so busy making a new game and website design. Perhaps we'll get something which works better in the next iteration. Maybe Bungie has already figured it all out and is just waiting to test/implement it. We'll see.
For right now though, we'll just have to keep on keepin' on. When people make alts to spam or troll or violate our rules/CoC/YoU we'll just have to report, and let the moderation handle it. The report button does not seem to be utilized as often as it once was. I know that's primarily because there's just generally a lot less traffic here at the moment, but if there's violations going on, its simply not being reported anymore.
