What were the events surrounding the firing of the Halo Array? Were they fired from the Ark or another facility elsewhere? And why did Mendicant Bias' betrayal scupper the Forerunners' plans to seek refuge in the shield worlds? Why did the Didact fire them, and not the Master Builder?

Thanks

I am alpha, i am omega.

I am the last of the primes.

Bias went rampant, didact is the commander of the forerunner miltary, so it makes sense that he flicks the switch of the halos. And isn't the master builder dead or mia?

Also bias was attacking just before the halos were fired.

Why hello there.

Well the Forerunners made the Halos as a fail-safe. They then found the flood and were unable to contain them, forcing them to use the Halos. Mendicant betrayed the Forerunners because he was corrupted by a Gravemind.

The Halos were made specifically to stop the Flood threat.

As for who pulled the Trigger, from the Halo 3 terminals we learn that Didact fires it from the Ark while Offensive battled Mendicant for time at the Maginot Line. I don't know if this will be retconned when the last of those damnable Forerunner books come out but I sincerely hope not.

Didn't Grey make a good theory that he fired it from 04 instead of the Ark?

How would he survive that?

Because I do believe that Halos are safe from their own blast. Could be wrong, and admittedly it doesn't make a great deal of sense. I just wondered where Didact fired them from, because if it was the Ark then surely he would have been there in 2552 and had something to say? Unless he went on a Walk of Eternal Regret/Shame type thing...

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Firstly, at the time of firing the rings, the Didact had already fully manifested in Bornstellar's body, right?

Secondly, if he truly is on Requiem, then where would've he fired the rings from? Let's assume that the Array isn't safe from it's own activation, and that he did it from the Ark. How/ why did he go from there to Requiem? Why not just stay on the Ark, unless it didn't house any Cryptums. I think it all comes down to why Requiem so special.

Why wouldn't it make sense? The Halos are conservation worlds as they are weapons. It's where many life forms were stored.

And yeah, he fires the Rings then they went into exile, to parts unknown.

Still wondering how the Forerunner series "retconned" anything.

Maybe he went to Requiem because it was the closest, and therefore a bit more isolated, shield world to the Ark.
