Walk up to her quietly from behind and breathe heavily on the back of her neck and whisper "amore"

Their next game better have rocket boots!

I made that up.

by Microsoft and 343 industries?

When BUNGiE still was in charge of the Halo "Franchise" Microsoft said "hey since BUNGiE is making the games, we'll let someone else handle the other stuff like books, videos, and action figures. Why? because its all too much for one tiny company to handle."

Ok. BUNGiE lets 343 handle that stuff and continues to make the games. They are given terrible deadlines that limit their creativity.

BUNGiE decides to move on to other stuff. Microsoft says "hey before you leave make two more games and then you can declare your independence." BUNGiE makes two more games and then is free.

Microsoft then gives the ENTIRE universe and creative control to 343 industries. Stupid. Why should they control everything when BUNGiE clearly could have handled it. They are more experienced.

On top of that 343 is given a five year deadline to make a halo game. What?! When was BUNGiE given a more than two years to make a game? Probably never. They had to rush halo 3 and take out a bunch of stuff. If they were given more time that wouldn't have happened.

On top of that 343 more than once, fail to give credit to the original creators of Halo. Plus they openly criticize BUNGiE's map making skills and story-lines.

What the hell BUNGiE?
Why aren't you in a lawsuit with Microsoft?

"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

This is probably the most reasonable answer. In the words of Marty O Donnell,

"I wanted to make sure that the fans know that we did Halo because we wanted to do Halo, and we did ODST because we wanted to do ODST and we did Reach because we wanted to do Reach. But now we want to do something brand new and want to do something different."

All in all, I'm sure it was very difficult to make that decision to give up their baby for the past 10 years - but since they don't own the Halo name anymore, there really isn't much they can do about it I assume.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Bungie is used to this.

Look at Myth 3: The Wolf Age.

*shutters

But now they get to do pretty much what they want to when they formed their Activision contract or new what they were doing in making the contract.

ALL HAIL GABEN

None of this is Bungie's fault at all. Bungie wanted to try something new, but they couldn't just let their beloved franchise end like that, so 343i as created and took over.

Why would Bungie sue Microsoft? There would be no point to sue....at all. You may think that they have to sue over, but they really don't....it would be silly to anyways.

Also, if you are to blame anyone, blame Microsoft, not Bungie. Like I said, none of this their fault. Microsoft makes the deadlines and the devs have to go with it. Also, each main Halo game (1-3) came out 3 years between each other, not 2, and Bungie already had part of their staff working on the next game...lets say Halo 3, while everybody else was working on Halo 2.

The conclusion? Whining fanboy.

"I would kill to get a killionaire... 10 times... digitally."

Because I love BUNGIE and trust them enough to make the right descisions. THAT is why I don't feel betrayed. They would not have handed their baby over to a developer they thought couldn't handle it.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Bungie is made up of big boys and girls. People that not only know this particular phrase, but have come to grips with it.

While I can imagine that perhaps a few people within the team may have less than kind thoughts or feelings towards Microsoft, its subsidiaries or even some of the people in the company/companies, it is clear from Bungie (and individual) statements that most of the folks at Bungie don't waste time looking back with anger. It appears that many have positive memories, thoughts or relations with their former company and colleagues.

Well Microsoft helped make Bungie where it is today and gave Bungie the money to make Halo what it is today.

I don't think that's how it all went down really.

The reason why Bungie didn't handle the books, videos, and action figures is the same reason why Bungie doesn't simply publish their own games in the first place. Bungie is a Videogame Development Company. They want to make games, they don't want to bother themselves with the details of publishing a game or managing merchandising or all that rubbish.

I very much doubt it was a "Hey can we mangage the books and the Action Figures?" "NO YOU CANNOT 343 INDUSTRIES WILL TAKE CARE OF THAT NOW GET BACK TO WORK." sort of thing.

Bungie never owned Halo, Microsoft has always had the license pretty much. That's why Microsoft chooses who makes the Halo games. I'm excited for the refresher of Halo, and I am also excited to see what Bungie is hiding from us.

As the other members posted, Bungie was already done with Halo, Bungie is ready to do something new and big, Halo is Halo. I do agree, Halo without Bungie is not Halo, I saw it on E3. Bungie doesn't want to be limited to one game. A brand new world of adventure and excitement is coming, all we have to do is wait for it.

Bungie never dissapoints.

I don't understand why you're getting upset almost on the behalf of Bungie. If there was cause for concern, I'm certain they would have made that clear, rather than doing nothing but painting their time with Microsoft in a positive light, and saying how much they enjoyed creating ten years of Halo.
Bungie flourished under Microsoft, and while I may not be Bungie, or know for certain - in my mind I'm sure that from the relationship they have gained far more than you claim they have lost or been hard done by on.

Chill.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

Some of your facts are wrong. Each Halo game by Bungie (excluding Halo 3: ODST since it wasn't a major installment) had at least 3 years of development under its belt. 343i, on the other hand, only gets 2 years for their trilogy. On a side note, Bungie is getting 2 years to make a game now since Activision wants it to be a powerhouse game. They can probably handle it, though, because they have 20 of experience vs 5 (343i).

You got stuck by FalconStickr

We all know that Bungie made the best 5 games they could make. Im a little upset that 343 is making 3 more games because the 5 original were so great. We all remember the good times of CE and 2 and those times will never be forgotten. Halo will not be the same without Bungie behind the wheel and whatever they are qworking on will be great. I admire what they have done the past 20 years and I admire them even more for wanting to be remembered for something besides Halo. 343 will never live up to Bungie and its time for some of us to move on to bigger and better things like the guys at Bungie did. I am very very excited for the announcement in 2013. I have my faith in Bungie.

OP I don't understand what you're trying to say. There was no 343i before 2007. There was a small franchise expansion group that dealt with marketing. The previous Halo novels weren't written by 343i, it was Eric Nylund and a couple of other authors including Bungie's Staten; Bungie had a huge hand in those novels even if they didn't technically write it. The graphic novel is something Bungie worked very closely on with outside artists.

During the release of ODST and Reach Bungie had already given up Halo. They were simply fulfilling their contract and finishing up with what they started with the Halo Universe. 343i came together after Halo 3 (post 2007) and the game development for Halo 4 didn't start until 2009, when Microsoft had established a functional AAA studio; as I recall Corinne Yu started working on Halo 4's graphics Engine as early as 2008.

All in all, Bungie did good with what power they had over the Halo universe. So chill out. There's better stuff on the way.
