Has bungie considered a way to reduce lag on its games?
Yes. There is some stuff we can look at in this area but some of it also comes down to the users Internet connection / routing to the other players.

To other players? That means its not going to be hosted on dedicated servers then.

Seriously, dont do this. Unless you have improved by vast amounts and have a huge range of options added, its going to be as crap as it was for anyone outside the US in the xbox version. Im not making that up, every person I know that had halo2 has not renewed their live subscription, because of the laggy games (and screaming kids, but mainly the lag).

Besides of which, PC can do so much more, thus people will have much more chance to run stuff (hacks etc) on the chance they get to be host.

I also want to be able to join a game, not have to join one at the start all the time.

If Im wrong, then ignore my babbling. If Im right, I will not be buying Halo2.

And a question. Will it be linked to an account in anyway, like steam is, or will you even need a live account?

I'd just like something in an update or something, they gave us that one about the vista, but not halo 2 pc. Maybe it means they're surprising us, or not changing halo 2 at all

It's just Halo 2 Vista. There isn't a product called Halo 2 PC.

Wait, if they cut out Gearbox, then no Halo 2 CE...
Oh well, still looking forward to it!

Imagine what Halo would be like if it was on the Playstation 2. Long story short, it would be pretty crappy. There's a chance they might make it for Macs, so don't worry.

I hope it looks good with DX9.0 hardware, cause i don't plan on upgrading my video cards anytime soon, definitely not for one game.
I agree, I have XP pro with DX 9.0 hardware and if vista costs twice as much as H2PC (it once said on google H2PC would be 50$) well I have to decide whether which is more wise...lol, but if bungie sells H2PC for 20$? Heck, Im going with it and buying it.

Oh, of course it will look awesome even with DX9 cards, because at least they're better than a six-year-old Xbox console playing Halo 2. DX10 will be infinite, high-resolution imagery bliss, but that doesn't mean that DX9 cards won't make it look superb.

Ok phew, because earlier to me it sounded like you were saying you NEEDED DX10 to play H2PC

I hope they redo the online lobby at least. An option for finding friends, search feature, but, MAN would an xbox-like statistic and rank for your file rock! Are they including this?

What I hope they do is that they have a combination of HPC's game lobby, and an improved, mouse/keyboard adapted version of H2's Xbox Live matchmaking, friends list, etc., so basically it would be a mix of HPC and Live's matchmaking.

You whore. No on cares what it would look like. Why would it really matter. You can have the highest and best graphics avalible but because of a tvs low res. It wouldn't make a difference.

Plus it looked very similar to the xbox version anyway. http://ps2.ign.com/objects/014/014552.html

The only major difference is Spartan but it still looks very early prototype.

Macs can dual boot windows, so i'd say that a MAc user just has to have two HDDs and boot up Vista and Halo 2.

I know your trying to help but I don't want to sound rude. I bought a Apple to run Mac OS X, and that is what I want to play it on. Installing Vista on it would defeat the purpose of a reliable OS that doesn't have a big virus issue, and Doesn't need a 2.4ghz cpu to run just the OS.

Lol. I'm not just talking about the graphics.

How many controller slots are there for the Playstation 2, huh? Last time I checked, there were two, meaning two players. Now, let's say that you get the extension that allows more controllers to connect to the PS2, raising it to four players. Now let's do a system link between two PS2s. What does that get you? A total of eight players. And most PS2 games don't even support games up to eight players, am I correct? Half of the maps in Halo are quite huge, and would be too big for 2-8 players.

Next, imagine how crappy it would look trying to run huge single-player levels and big multiplayer maps like Sidewinder or Assault on the Control Room. It would either run really slow on the PS2, because of all the great graphics, or it would look really crappy, to compensate for a smooth framerate.

Next time, think before you try to contradict me.

Last time I checked a xbox with only 2 systems can play only 8 players as well.
Playstation 2 Does have a network adapter if that is what your talking about because I have no idea how is this an issue, because you could easily get up to 16 players using playstations. I still don't see what you going at.

How would you know it would run really slow. You just put Playstation 2 out before you can even thing about what it is capible of. Do you have any idea of what kind of stuff you can do with coding. Draw events and be done in several ways. Starting with a simple one of. If you want you could tell a polygon not to draw if it is too far away from the character. Saving you memory and space. So you never loose FPS.

Another one is the one that bungie choose to do for the Xbox your just too stupid to notice. At a certain distance the model will reduce polygons to make sure that space is saved. So if your so many o what is that term.... .... .... w/e if your a certain distance away from a banshee which has about 1000 polygons it will go from 1000 to 800 then even lower I think the lowest is 500. So if you look at it you still see a banshee but it has less polygons.

playstation 2 has NO online kim.

Playstation 2 does have online.
It doesn't have a online service that charges you a lot of money, but you can still play online.

I have Windows Vista and for those who are wondering how, yes you can get it legal. You can sign up at the Microsoft site to test it out, no limitations.

I have to say, it runs much faster, it’s a total game booster. Games I used to run at 640x480 im now running at 1024x720 with even faster frame rates.

I cant wait for Halo 2 on Vista!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couple down sides, I cant get any drivers, none available for Vista and XP drivers don’t work and a few programs have compatibility problems. These things should get fixed after Vista comes out.

Overall, I have to say it’s the best OS I ever had, im sure Halo 2 will run fine and have the same graphics as the Xbox version. Maby better but I doubt that.
