It cant be the great journey. The great journey never existed. Guilty Spark was the computer of the halo installation and he said that there was no Great Journey.

Besides, it's the Ark. I dont remember where i read this from, but a source said the Ark was located under Africa. That ground looks like it used to be some sort of savanna or something. Africa is full of savannas. Im not saying you're wrong. You might be right.

Or maybe... Master Chief can not be his actual name. What if Derandel was his original name. He could have been with Cortana when he was younger. Maybe Gravemind jogged her memory and she remembered Master Chief as Darandel. Master Chief could have been brainwashed while becoming a Spartan, so he won't take affection of losing his family in order to becoming a spartan.

Wow. Impressive theory. I think you may be on to something. My only major disaggreement is with the Prophets not knowing what humans are. I feel that the Humans are immediate descendents of the Foreunners and the prophets know this. The prophets want to get rid of the humans because the existence of Forerunners would completely destroy any remaining chance they have of power.

i completely agree. i even remember people talking about the flood being test for the forerunners to produce lifeforms, like the flood are pre humans, but i don't completly agree with that. every other race got brought into the covenant except humans. and this would explain why the Ark is on Earth if it is.

Procrastination never ends...

Your theory makes me want to go on a great slip space journey in H3. It would be fun to travel away from earth and back.

Perfect, we might be finding out the story a year before it comes out.

this is like the pre halo2 topics when everybody was speculating about the story like the pyramids etc. this is a great theory and i hope it is at least similar to this.

Maybe the Prophets thought humans didnt exist on Earth because the humans activated the ring and were all wiped out. They might have thought the remaining humans hid in the ark. Im not sure, this is a dumb theory

Hey, this has nothing to do with this theory, but I just realized that the forerunner ship that Truth takes to Earth was powering High Charity, as Cortana says in Halo 2. If this is true, then I get the feeling we're defiently going to be going back to High Charity and Halo 5 to kick some gravemind butt. But is gravemind going to sit idly by just to hack Cortana? He's got to have some gameplan...

What do you guys think?

Good job on coming up with the theory, but I'm pretty sure that the "Great Journey" is what the Covenant think is what happens when the rings are activating, because in the book "The Flood" lots of times when Covenant die, it says they are "transcending the physical", I think the Great Journey is something similar.

Hey, I added this just now to the main body of the theory:

"Also, as we see in the trailer, the Banshees ignore MC. Its been discussed elsewhere and its seems pretty obvious that theres only two possible reasons why this would happen. One is that they're friends (Elites, other spartans...who knows??). Otherwise, they're COV's on their way to something they find to be a lot more important then the Chief... perhaps to catch their ride through slipspace on the great journey?"
