I believe due to the fact 3 levels were cut from Halo 2 as well as the ARK has been seen in sketches for Halo 2 that the Halo 3 announcement trailer is the end of Halo 2 if the last three levels had been put into place. Think about it it would have made a superb ending to Halo 2 and Bungie is getting us up to date with what is going to happen in Halo 3. Also in Halo 3 with exception to High Charity are we going to be playing completely on Earth? We still have not encountered the Covenant homeworld. I'd love to hear your views!

Additional evidence - Dee Bradley Baker is the voice of Gravemind. His website lists his credits for Halo 2. Not Halo 3. So has he not recorded the voice of Gravemind yet? If so why can we hear Gravemind speak in Halo 3? Is this something Dee Bradley Baker recorded for Halo 2?

1. The trailer takes place about a third of the way through Halo 3, so i hope 3 levels worth isnt all that takes place for a third of a game
2. Maybe i'm wrong but the homeworld is the large travelling thing in Halo 2? I thought it was, the thing that High Charity was on.

I personally do not think High Charity is the Covenant's homeworld. The Prophet of Truth says " Shall we let the flood turn high charity into another of their wretched hives". Very little resistance is put up against the Flood on High Charity. If High Charity was the Covenants homeworld I think they would put up much more of a fight?

There is no covenant homeworld. They are a covenant of aliens, so there will be different homeworlds for each one.

yeah think of it as a football team ( english football the propper one ) the players come from all over the world and play as one, thats kinda what covenant means...

Yes but as a collective the Covenant could now be classified as a Species. "That fleet, that Covenant fleet it's the largest I have seen, that anyone's seen" the fleet that you encountered when assasinating Regret came from somewhere. Not from High Charity. A homeworld is where all the Covenant live as a collective, a Covenant. It is therefore entirely possible that one ecounters the Covenant homeworld at some point in Halo 3's story arc.

I still reckon they'll all be seperate, and high charity was like the houses of parlement

(also why is american football called football when you pick up the ball rather than kick it along?)

Then I respect your opinion but as I have said and will reliterate we would have the entire army out in order to protect/defend the House of Parliament. The Covenant practically abandoned High Charity their city of Ninth Reclamation.

that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death may die.

personaly I think that there is another "high charity" just it is made up of all the different homeworlds, so it will be very big. but it would make sense because

314 covenant ships were sent to reach.
314+ ships you see when you kill regret
(note: this fleet is destroyed because the brutes and the elites were killing eachother
314+ fleet that would be needed to cappure earth, well lets see the facts.

on reach there was 20 mac guns, which defend reach well againts 314 ships,
now on earth there was 300 mac guns, which owned the fleet of regret, so then the
covenant would need a VERY BIG fleet to have taken over all of earth. which means that there probably another form of high charity.

They abandoned high charity i think because the covenant is in chaos. The brutes are fighting the elites , ships are firing on one another and the flood has come onboard.
The prophets are dead and only sneeky truth is alive and following his own agenda (in my opinion)

And maybe they are all think that as the great journey is about to begin little else matters.

If I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good nite.

High Charity is the special city that the covenant do special stuff on. The Halo 3 trailer wasn't part of Halo 2's ending. The Chief wouldn't have badly damaged armor after 3 levels unless they were giant levels such as Two Betrayals, AOTCR, and The Library.

Football was first started as a form of rugby and soccer mixed so people used their feet a lot in the beginning. It has come a long way since then.

the fleet that you see in regret is the one that truth is sending on its way to attack earth, not the one defending high charity that attack each other. the fleet attacking earth is the one cortana mentions as the biggest anyone has ever seen

When the forerunner ship appears at the end of halo 2 there is a battle going on around earth. It seems like there has been one going on since In amber clad followed regret through slipspace.

We know that whatever there is a fleet at earth and it wipes out the UNSC ships bungie has said this.

I still feel the evidence I have put forward is pretty much infallible.

- Also comments on Dee Bradley Baker please.

Total guess here. I think it's kind of like, how, in England for example, people call English Football, just Football, but they call American Football, American Football. Same thing in America. People call American Football, just Football. People then call English Football, Soccer. Make sense?

Although I have no idea why Americans call it Football, when they carry the ball.

EDIT-Have to make this Halo 3 related. Although your idea is original thread creator, Bungie has already stated that it even looks like Master Chief has been in a massive battle.

I dont understand why everyone continues to shout that "Master Chief has been horrific battle" he has just defended earth and failed in the first 1/3 of the game that was meant to be in Halo 2. Sure with a new engine additional levels may have been added.

Do you mean Football as in, American Football? Or Football as in, English Football?

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

Personally. I think it will work out better this way, than if they had the scene in the Halo 3 trailer as the ending.

More pwnage on 360.
