Ugh, this is the dumbest idea yet. There is no "quitter problem", just a MM problem. If I don't like a gametype/map, I'm going to quit because I can't have fun on said gametype/map. I play this game for fun and being withheld from playing another MM game until the one I quit is over is not fun. If someone someone on my team is harassing me, being rude, TKing, being racist, etc, I'm going to quit and find another game, should I be punished for that? No, that's why this idea is stupid. I feel sorry for all of you who are that obligated to play a videogame even though you don't like the map/gametype/losing/etc. It's a -blam!- videogame meant for personal enjoyment. I didn't buy my copy of Halo 2 and my XBL for YOUR enjoyment, I bought it for MINE and MINE alone. When Halo 3 comes out, it will be no different.

if the phone rings its raining out and you friends cars breaks down ........ then you preety much have to leave if you are a good freind

If your friend's car breaks down it will take you less than 10 minutes to help him fix it? Wow.

Please people, read my post first. If you quit out of a game because you have an emergencey, then by the time you get back you will be able to play again. The pennalty would be a 5 or 10 min pennalty from when you quitted the game.

You will practically never notice the few minutes before you can join again if you are actually leaving for a reason other than "I don't like this gametype, I'm gonna play another one" or "We are losing, I'm going to just go ahead and quit so I can play a new game"

Please be my friend. I will bring you chocolate covered pretzels. And when your car breaks down, I will come pick you up. Then I'll laugh at your piece of shet car.

"I didn't buy this sword for your enjoyment, I bought it for mine and mine alone. If I end up stabbing someone who cares"

Just because you pay for something does not mean that you get to make the rules of how you use it.

Yes your quitting makes the game more fun for you, but it ruins the game for the 3 other people on your team. Way to be selfish man. But I guess that is how you think you will win at life, isn't it?

Waiting. So what, thats not a good punishment at all. Bungie should just give the Ban the guy for Sev7n days. It's pretty harsh, but it will teach those Quitters.

I agree that "Quitters" deserve a harsher punishment. But some people have to quit for important reasons, and they should not be classified with the "Quitters". This punishment would at least deter people from quitting to get out of a game quickly and into a new one. I wish we could punish those people with a 7 day ban.

Quitting is fine? Wow, I hope I never end up in your party.

And if I was always able to have several friends online to play with I would not really need matchmaking hardly at all.

Wow, learn how to read an entire post. I said that I never quit, unless I am getting cheated. Here, I'll make my statement more specific, so you can understand it without reading my entire post: Quitting is fine in certain circumstances, and it is nowhere near being a huge problem as is cheating.
If you care about your ranks, then you should get some friends and play with a party, and if you don't, you can play by yourself, accepting the potential risk of quitters. It's not really that big of a deal.

People quit for too many reasons to count, and are often not in control of whether they quit or not. Sometimes they quit because they feel like it, but 5 minutes isn't going to change there mind about it. Most delevelers stay most of the game, and if they don't, you have a chance to win. If they do, than this suggestion won't really work anyway, since they won't be penalized for staying.

I'm not so sure that I agree that cheating is a bigger problem than quitting. I am only a 26 so I may not end up in the 30-50 range where all of the cheaters may be, but I have only run into cheaters at most 20 times since I have been playing for the last year and a half. But I have people quit at least one out of every three games either on my team or the other team. Also, I am assuming that Bungie will have learned from Halo 2 and will have better ways of banning cheaters.

And the argument about bring in friends with you to game types does not really work. I rarely have more than one or two friends online at the same time. In fact, most of the time I play, I have none of my friends online. So, unless I want to play head to head (which you can tell how popular that was) I am kind of out of luck for going in with a full party. This is probably the case for a large chunk of the Halo 2 players right now. You cannot alienate those who do not go in with others in their party.

I am assuming that Halo 3 will be able to detect delevelers that do lots of suicides or teamkilling. If that is the case, then their only options left are to just run around not shooting or quit. This would make it so that all they could do is run around the entire game doing nothing, which would probably bore the heck out of them anyways.

To be honest, I consider quitters to be cheaters. Unless they have a good reason, they are cheaters in my mind. An honestly, if this was implimented for Halo 2 I would be much happier. Having to sit out one game every once in a while is alot better than having almost a majority of my games being one sided.

I guess I have just started rambling on now...

BTW, I apologize for misreading your earlier post and said that you are a quitter.

Thats a good point the people who leave for good reasons should not be punished. This could open a new option for Mircosoft, you press the guide botton adn set it to turn off when this match ends, thats a good idea, no.

You're -blam!- stupid. WTF kind of analogy is that? If you bought a sword with the intent of stabbing someone you're a sick -blam!-. You buy videogames for personal enjoyment. I'm not playing Halo 2 to make sure you have a good time dumbass. I'm playing it because I like it and it kills the time. My $50 went to make sure that I would enjoy playing this game in the comfort of my own home. I'm not here for good times with strangers who are -blam!-s to me. You're saying that I should be punished for quitting a game because I'm not having fun, or was cheated against, found other players to be rude, etc. I should not be allowed to play for 5-10 minutes because of this? That is the most ignorant "solution" to this non-existent "quitting problem".

That's how I think I'm going to win at life? Are you -blam!- stupid? Oh wait, you are we already knew that. IT'S JUST A -blam!- VIDEOGAME DUMBASS, NOT A PART OF MY LIFE LIKE IT IS YOURS. You really are pathetic.
