I think the OP is talking about without having to link it, just straight embedded into the site on the forums. I know the "O Brave New World" video was embedded on the front page of the site but everywhere I looked on the forums it had to be linked.
Employees cannot embed videos to the forums. Trust me, we would have seen it already. Anything closely guarded by Achronos, such as custom titles, is immediately used by urk.

I think Verachi just wanted an excuse to link that video and I can't say I blame him.

I still want those emoticons

Neither can I.

So you are going on it hasn't happened yet as evidence?
No you misunderstand me. urk is the irrefutable evidence.

  • 06.09.2012 8:17 PM PDT

No, OP, but not because of security restrictions. See, the site doesn't exactly get rid of the [img] tag -- the BBCode parses it, or at least detects it -- but if we don't have the permission, the site filters it out and sticks "Image removed" in its place. There is no [vid] tag or anything, so nobody can do it -- via BBCode, anyway -- so it's not like we'd just be filtered out, it's just not possible. And the site now parses html so those bugs they were talking about before that probably used the embed tag aren't possible without direct admin intervention, and that would require access to the website's guts.

I think so but I could be wrong.

They can. Blame Stosh's at the end of each weekly update is a perfect example.

Actually, turns out there is a YouTube tag. I doubt this will work.

Well, that settles it.

The News articles are completely different from forum posts. When have you ever seen a video in a forum post?

What, please explain.

If you look at what Tom T quoted me at the top of this page he is talking about Urk-the ruiner of Bungie Secrets. The Example myself, Tom, and Verachi are talking about are the existence of emoticons. We all thought that there were none on this site until urk posted them (in the thread linked by Verachi). This is what Tom means when if "Anything closely guarded by Achronos, such as custom titles, is immediately used by urk.".

We'll it seems like no matter what we say, you'll want a response from a Employee
You could ask DeeJ seeing that he is here all the time.

Or if you're feeling luck you could try Achronos.

Did you honestly think that would work?

Yes, I said "I doubt this will work" because I was confident it would work.

OP, the answer to your question is no.

It makes it seem like I am not listening to you.

Yes, I do realize that this is more that probable, I just want the 100% answer, instead of the 99% answer.

I'm trying to help you get your answer. This thread could die and an employee won't see it. You could pm them and get the answer that you want.

*scratches nuts*

I don't see why they couldn't

  • 06.09.2012 8:48 PM PDT

Firstly, I'm curious as to why you care so much about this simple thing. Secondly, I'm curious as to why you refuse to listen. No, they cannot post videos, as BBCode does not allow the parsing of videos aside from YouTube and Google Video links, which I have shown do not work on the site. There's not even a need to contact an employee.

Don't have to be an employee to see whether or not it's possible.

I meant videos, as the rest of the sentence continued to talk about Youtube and Google Video, and GIFs are images.
