So. What the hell has been done to this booting system?

I was in a game just now. I got betrayed 6 times. 2 times by one player, and 4 times by another. Guess what? I never got the option to boot him.

My friend then betrays the other player (the one who betrayed me 4 times) once, and my friend gets booted. Then I betray the player once and I get booted.

Please, 343, explain how this is fair in any conceivable since. I dare you. I encourage you. Please attempt to explain how you let this go.

I'll start playing Halo again once I get some answers.

If you want proof of the above, go to "Youre just bad" 's file share and view the 6 minute "TU BTB Slayer" game.

Yeah. You're right.

Betray someone once and you get booted

Get betrayed 6 times and you can't boot

So fair!

No, the system was designed with the intent to be fair but is basically random because of its inability to distinguish intentional betrayals from accidents and its illogical choices of when to offer or not to offer the boot option.

OP isn't making it up, this happened to me once too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjzjrsyOYdA

Yep. I just wish it was more consistent. It's pretty annoying to get betrayed for a power weapon or just because they're being an idiot and you can'y even boot the person.

I agree with the people who posted on the video. Why go back after 1 betrayal? I had this one friend who would betray people who tried to betray me for my sniper. Those idiots got smart and avoided both of us for the rest of the game.

I wanted a chance to boot him, and I wanted to see if the system would offer it for such an obvious second betrayal. Nope.

no it's "its got to go" you wouldn't say the "it is got to go" would you?

Nobody cares.

Its cute because you're lying.

  • 06.09.2012 9:35 PM PDT

It's simple mathematics really.

No, it's not fair. Same thing happens to me from time to time. Someone betrays me for my power weapon, and I don't get to boot them. An idiot steps in front of my kill, gets killed, and I get booted for one betrayal that was a complete accident. It'd be pretty easy for them to fix too but they wont. Expect an even -blam!-ier system in H4.

  • 06.09.2012 9:36 PM PDT

dont like my driving? stay off the sidewalk

wow, nice biased poll you have there. the system works on a frequency basis, if you betray a lot then you're at a higher chance of being booted however if you have good aim and dont run over your own team then the higher the chance that the system will see it as an accident and automatically forgive you. so either your

A) a regular betrayer

B) have crappy aim and/or driving skills or

C) some butthurt kid whining over the internet

personally im going with D. all of the above...

  • 06.09.2012 9:52 PM PDT

It's simple mathematics really.

That actually makes sense. I DO have a habit of revenge betraying, thats prolly why my frequency is high enough to get booted in one sometimes.

Always up for REACH customs!

One simple fix (don't know how simple it would be to add to Reach programming-wise, but it should definitely be added to H4) would be to always give the boot option to someone who's betrayed twice by the same teammate within the same game.

  • 06.09.2012 10:23 PM PDT

Not this again.

Look even if it is fair or not get over it if the penatly is ten minutes withou matchmaking play campaign on Mythic or something to occupy your time.

  • 06.09.2012 10:30 PM PDT

I totally agree. I go in games and betray people all the time, for research of course, and it is not fair. My record of most betrayals before booted is around 10 and my friend has many more. Further research is necessary...
