Best gameplay (taking into consideration: reload times, reasonable spread, amount of autoaim, switching speed, useful weapons, movement speed and strafe): CE. Though H2 carried over most of these things from CE, the addition of dual wielding killed the sandbox. Increased autoaim and the addition of lunge may not have been potent enough to ruin Halo in those days, but as of Reach, they are a poison that should be eliminated or massively toned down.

Best enemies (even if they didn't last long, they were aggressive, not just because of their firing rate a la Reach Ultras, and they were limited like the player and thus, are worthy opponents): CE Elites, CE Zealot, CE Hunter, CE Grunt, H2 Ultra Elite, H2 Jackal Sniper, H2 Flood, H2 Brute, H3 Jackal (I like that they can become pets. If it weren't for that, I would have said CE Jackals)
Honorable mention: Reach Skirmisher
Best sidekicks: H2 Johnson, H3 Arbiter
Best teammates: ODST allies (ah yes, a return to H2 times where we could give invincibles our weapons. But other than this, nothing special about them), Jorge (WHY BUNGIE, WHY YOU KILL HIM?!)
Best vehicle hover height: CE
Best vehicle traction and maneuverability: H2
Best vehicle diversity: H3 (aww damn it, I hate the Prowler. Love the Chopper though!)
Best vehicle splatter: CE
Best hog: CE (bumpy physics ftw!)
Best tanks: H2
Best air vehicles: CE Banshee, H3 Hornet (I'm only listing this because I've seen a bunch of AI controlled ones pwn an AA Wraith. Otherwise, these things are op like hell in mp and boring to use in campaign), ODST Banshee
Best vehicle boarding: H2
Best vehicle physics: H3 (the only time where a vehicle collision from my own vehicle or from one driven by allies didn't kill me)
My favorite vehicles: H2 Spectre, Reach Revenant, H3 Chopper, Wraiths (scorpions are tedious), Reach Mongoose, the vehicles listed above
Best weapon balance: CE
Best utility weapons: CE pistol, ODST pistol, ODST Carbine
Best weapons: CE AR, CE PR, CE Sniper Rifle (silenced effect, night vision, sliced like butter), CE Rocket Launcher, H2 Beam Rifle, H2 Fuel Rod Gun (before it got that annoying bounce effect that no one uses), H2 Sword (sword flying hell yeah! Giving it bottomless clip in mp was a bad idea though...), H3 Spartan Laser, H3 Missile Pod, H3 Sentinel Beam, ODST SMG, Reach Concussion Rifle (I like the look), Reach grenade launcher (it wasn't a direct fire weapon like the brute shot and concussion rifle)
Best weapons (Overall): CE, ODST
Best power weapons: H2, H3

The best game, IMO, would have to be CE.
P.s. Anyone who denies CE a proper place (anything besides last place is alright) in Halo is either one hell of a troll or just sucks at the game.
When you look at H1 tricking and compare it to tricking in newer Halo games, there's nothing to compare.
When you look at H1 speedruns and compare it to speedruns in newer Halo games, you can tell CE prioritized skill (but I admit the last several missions are a huge departure from the first five missions). The other games are (mostly) about luck.
