So many people I know who play in tournaments, etc. are very disappointed and still play Halo 1 over Halo 2. If Bungie wants to regain the respect of the pro gamers who loved Halo and were let down by Halo 2, they need to do the following in the designing of Halo 3:

The health bar and med packs need to be brought back. The Chief needs to take damage when falling reasonable lengths - how can he fall any distance but still get run over by vehicles? The melee needs to be stronger and more legit, and the lunging needs to go, and the plasma sword eventually dying like in the campaign of Halo 2 should be brought into multiplayer, if that horrible weapon shows up again in Halo 3. The Chief is a huge, strong guy, and should be able to throw grenades very far like in halo 1, not small distances like in Halo 2, and the grenades need to be stronger. Auto aim needs to be turned down similar to Halo 1. The Battle rifle should be slightly stronger and should have single shots while zoomed in (similar to the Halo 2 E3 video), not triple shots, if that weapon also makes it into Halo 3. The Pistol should be considerably stronger too, but not AS strong as it was in Halo 1. Something needs to be done about the plasma pistol and the dreaded 'noob combo'. The plasma rifle should have a similar effect as it did in Halo 1; stopping the enemy in their tracks. For online play there should always be leaderboards - Bungie should have never taken down the stats for Halo 2 off the website.

Of course Halo 2 isn't Halo 1 and will never be, but hopefully Halo 3 will have the great feeling Halo 1 did, along with some of the cool innovations from Halo 2. This will be the first Halo game on the 360, and hopefully it'll be what a Halo game should be, implementing all the great things from the previous games, but also giving Halo fans something completely fresh in a Halo game on this new powerful console, that will be an unforgettable experience. This game has a lot of potential to be the best Halo game yet.

Halo 3 should be like Halo 3, not Halo:CE or Halo 2.

What a retarded thing to say. While I want new features in Halo 3, there is alot to be learned from the first two Halo's. Hopefully it will adopt the best attributes of both games, while adding some new goodies.

Halo 3 will be the third Halo game, that's it.

The first Halo storyline was undeniably stellar. The sequel was lackluster or a "clone" at worst. Bungie was most likely using Halo 2 to bridge the gap between 1 and 3. In my opinion the story didn't seem so terrifyingly against the protaganist, but more centered on cramming different aspects of the story into the game. Halo 3 looks great, and the story certinally seems to be concluding in a tummlet of gunfire and forerunner legacy. Im guessing, and hoping, that the third installment will blow us away.

As far as gameplay is concerned, a batllefield would definately be awesome. A hundred or so soldiers on a field might stress the system, so I wouldn't count on that though. The original halo's burst fire method (where a short burst from an AR for example is more accurate than full auto) is one of the technicalities that would vastly improve the game. Bungie does NOT need to load the game with dozens upon dozens of new toys to ensnare fanboys, however. The weapon arsenal is fine, and a new one or two or an upgrade is perfectly fine, but some kind of covie equivalent for every human weapon and vice versa is pure garbage. If a certain gun does something special, use it, don't ask for a substitute. Different senarios would make the combat feel more engaging, but again, there's no need to go overboard.
