Is the Didact evil, or are we?

That's deep.

Which is why I say ancient humans.

They are imprints floating around in Chakas. Who do they really threaten?

I still think the ancient evil is ancient humanity. Or possibly Mendicant Bias. More likely Mendicant Bias.

Mendicant Bias turned friendly and died (or destroyed) on the Ark after substantial fragmentation and the apparent destruction of the Ark. I think its Master Builder we're gonna be facing as the evil one. If the Didact's symbol is upside down , it means anti-Didact. And he clearly has a grudge towards the didact

There's Offensive Bias....

There's Offensive Bias....

He is a good guy, and hes not as powerful as mendicant.

032 was OK till he went nuts. For Offensive we just don't know yet, so I'm not ruling out the possibility OB has went mental.

1. O Bias was desgined to take out M bias, but against other things such as ancient humans i'm not sure he is as powerful, he might be though.

2. M bias was rampant, he wasn't thinking as he could have been. Had m bias been in his normal state things might have turned out difrrent.

Both are still Contender-class AIs and Offensive was made to take on Mendicant.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

This was my other theory.

But who's genetic imprint does Chief have? When reading Cryptum, I thought Chakas, but he turned into 343... Maybe Didact? That would explain why 343 told Chief that he was there the last time the ring got activated.

Also, when it comes to MB, didn't OB just disassemble him; showing him more compassion than he himself would have received? And to my point: if he's disassebled, how did he get reassembled?

EDIT: btw, what have I done to displease the Bungie gods, I seem to have been stripped of my second title? :(

Perhaps just angry of the demise of his race, his soldiers, his wife, and his "defeat," since he technically lost the war and had to resort to the Halos.

Just a burned-out living legend of a soldier who is responsible for the death of every sentient being in a galaxy. Might be a bit hard to have that on your mind and survive for 100,000 years... just saying.

Offensive Bias was created for the sole purpose of being intelligent and loyal.

I believe he was designed to take on Mendicant Bias but not go too far to create his own agenda, just orders.

As for the symbol, I have yet to see any 343i employee state that it is in fact the Didact's symbol.

I AM GOING FOR FABER!

I was just saying why he would be angry... and after 100,000 years your mind would go a little haywire after the events the Didact witnessed, you never know.

Faber might have been a contributing reason as well, perhaps we will hear from him in the game.

if forerunner imprints do work on humans maybe bornstellar had his didact imprint removed and chief eventually got it.

[Edited on 06.13.2012 11:24 AM PDT]

Notice that the the blue original didact symbol has an inner blank hexagon, but halo 4's is orange and does not have an inner hexagon. This means that the didact in halo 4 is probably bornstellar. Also, the didact hates humanity for killing his all his children in the human-forerunner war, but has deep regrets of their punishment and their low advantage, and with his wife having great respect for humanity, he has accepted that they are the "reclaimers".

Also in the anniversary truth and reconciliation terminal, guilty spark is talking to the didact.

NOTICE that in the halo 4 trailer, in the later mission, all the prometheans were BLUE NOT ORANGE and CORTANA'S color is BLUE. With all of her exposure to forerunner tech, she could easily take over the main drive or system that controls the promethean AIs

As the Didact, like Truth, discovered the fallacy of his beliefs, what's he going to do now? Suppress the truth or repurpose his life?

That must be what 'unbound state' means. Freedom to choose, dereliction of duty.

He can only resume his role if the Mantle still holds some truth for Forerunners. Perhaps he'll discover that at the end of the game.

The key to unlocking this puzzle is 343 Guilty Spark and Mendicant Bias, as the former underwent loss of protocol then regained it while the latter achieved metastability.

Depends on your perspective. He isn't really evil. He just hates Humans with a passion.

Hatred is the wrong word.

  • 06.27.2012 11:14 AM PDT

"Living in the past is a luxury none of us can afford..."
"I know what the ladies like..."

I think the Didact, and whatever Forerunners we might encounter, will only be enemies for the first game (Halo 4), or for part of the first game. Then we'll be introduced to the "real" threat, which will unite the covenant, humans, and Forerunners. Maybe the Precursors, who've come to judge humanity again? I dunno, this is just my far out theory, and the way I'd like the game to go, because I can't really see why we'd be fighting Forerunners, or Forerunner machines, again.

Librarian hated "The Mantle" and referred to it as a fairy tale.
