Cortana's supposedly currupt, right? What does that mean will happen? Will she help you or give you false information. It's a big twist in the series, in my opinion. Will you save her or shall she crash and never be useful again. What do you think?

and who says she is corrupted? i mean everyone just assumes this, sure there is the scream, but how do you know that she is going crazy?

Actually It's only 7 years and Cortana believes that she's gonna die before then, cuz she nearly killed herself absorbing all the Data from the first Halo Instalation and it screwed her processor a bit...

I wonder if she picked up the specks for the level 12 armor that Guilty spark mentioned in the book... For those of you who haven't read the book Guilty Spark told Master Chief that he was wearing level 2 armor >.<

Even in Halo 2 his armor is prolly only like a level 2 1/2 :P.

Wow! Thanks pointing that out!

I don't really remember anything about a level 12 armor, the details of the books are kinda fuzzy. But it would be a good idea that Cortana might have picked up the "specs" for such an armor, its quite possible the information she has was given to ONI and perhaps they incorporated it in the Mark VI or the Mark VII????? :P I can't wait to read the new book "Ghost of Coral"(tentative title) which hopefully takes place between halo 2 and 3.
It will hopefully shed some light on how the Mark VI was created.

On the other hand, if Cortana did have that info, the Mark VI would probably contain more Forerunner tech then more Covenant tech as mentioned by "Cassandra" in the Conversations of the Universe in the Halo 2 Special Edition. I don't see any reason for Cortana to keep such info to herself.

And back to topic:

I believe Cortana has gone Rampant and that she may have merged with the Gravemind's conscience/mind. There are so many things that prove the fact she is no longer sane and could have merged with the Gravemind, the catalyst that might have made her the way she is in Halo 3. First, she's been alive for awhile, she's absorbed more knowledge then any other AI because of when she accesed Installation 04's core.

As for the possibility that Cortana and Gravemind have been "merged", we saw at the end of Halo 2 when the Gravemind said "I will ask and you will answer." *Cortana puts up her hand and the Gravemind stops moving*. It is that scene that makes me think of somekind of connection, perhaps the Gravemind is able to interface with the computers or perhaps he was just being polite at that moment.

Lastly:
No offence but Curruption is not a word, the right word would be Corruption.

Alright dude before me, I'm going to use your same evidence, but in order to support an opposing theory. Alright so we obviously know that Cortana has aged since Halo 1. But the vast information from installation 04 did not overwhelm her, as we saw.

From what we see in Halo 2's ending, Gravemind wanted to ask Cortana questions. But she Puts Her Hand Up and Stops Him, and he complies. As far as I'm concerned, that doesn't show that Gravemind has access to Cortana and that he is effecting her, to me it shows the exact opposite. Cortana is sane, she is NOT corrupt.

Now, why she seems to almost be in a depressed state, or even some might say a corrupt state. I'm not sure, I just don't think its because of Gravemind.

Feel free to disagree with me if you want, considering my sheer lack of evidence.

Evil Angels
CHROMEHOUNDS
1/6/2010- A day that will live on in infamy.

The Man in Black fled across the desert, the Gunslinger followed.

Cortana's alert system : Warning,corrupted files.System crash in 5..4...3..

Cortana: Aw,crap

Cortans A.S.: 2..1...*power black out*

On topic: I think she is sane,as said above.Plus, she could of easily lied to Gravemind when he asked her questions.
