Incomprehensible gibberish.

Why hasn't trolling been added into the rules as a no-no? I don't mean like "he doesnt like ma gaem so he's be trollin" but obvious "My belief with no facts is obviously better than yours and I will resort to blatant insults when given opposing evidence"

I'd be all for banning obvious trolls. It might even curb the -blam!- posting that happens in the flood from time to time. I've seen many groups that have a "no trolling" policy and they seem to harbor much better discussions along with little, if any, banning/locking.

What do you guys think about my proposal?

It is. It's up to users to report trolls.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

Trolling is already bannable.
This is from the rule thread:3. Play nice, don't be a jerk.

- Use common sense. This is a video game developer's website. Keep your posts on-topic and "safe for work". The further you stray the more you'll tempt a ban.
- Respect your fellow members, or at least tolerate them publicly. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated, even if they probably deserve it.

Also, trolling is subjective.

I usually do it when possible, but when they're not the OP, I hardly see them get banned...

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

It's not specifically mentioned in the rules because "trolling" is such a vague term, and it its self it's not really harmful. If "trolls" are being jerks or harming the forums in any way the rules still apply, like "play nice" or "don't be a jerk".

Trolling, much like spam and beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Or, put another way....

One man's "obvious trolling" is another man's "vague enough to be given the benefit of the doubt".

Or, dissimilar but still relevant point...

It takes two to tango. If people are replying, how "obvious" is the trolling? No one can "make you" post something. It's not possible for words on a screen to compromise your free will and respond against your wishes.

How would a "troll" be defined? It would have to be crystal clear, and everyone here would undoubtedly be banned

If they're banned, you wouldn't see them.

Maybe S bot is saying that he's seen instances of trolls' replies and after checking back on the thread later no repercussive action has taken place, for said trolls?

I disagree with making the joke threads bannable. If something is obviously a joke, why lock it? Is humor really that bad?

I play for fun and armory completion. :)

Trolling is bannable, but obviously a successful troll is one in which no one even realizes that they are being trolled, while when it is obvious, it can hardly be considered trolling. Therefore, the only logical conclusion is that it is impossible to be banned for trolling.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

In the flood, almost everyone who has an opinion is called a troll at one point or another. "Your opinion is contrary to mine? You must be a TROOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!"

I've seen those people who don't contribute anything to a thread other than saying "OP is a troll." banned quicker than the OP who has a very extreme opinion on a subject.

And that's how it should be in my opinion.

There's an easy joke to be made here about a number of users depending on your standards for facts and insults. (Hi rac)

It is against the rules to troll. If you see it happening use the 'Report' button. If it's used enough, the moderators will see it in the queue. Then they'll get banned eventually.

Okay you bring up a point of 2 types of trolls there is the OP trolls and the Reply Trolls, someone who starts meaningless threads is a spam troll, or threads that have been started several times before. then there are the slight smart BLAM remarks stemming from those that are trolling, but are harmless mostly. for instance "first" when someone write that cause they recognize the pointless thread that is destined to fail with a lock. Also the nb4threadlockorsomethingalongthoselines replies (my personal faves) the nice thing about those is they can be accompanied with a legit reply or op. Trolling should only be bannable when it's derrogative.. like "the OP is a BLAM" that kind of stuff.. just imo anyways. :P

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

another obvious troll would be someone that always replies "blame stosh" on every negative post no matter the context.
