Subject: Aggravating connection issue!!! Black screen/new host

Ok, so I've been getting this issue constantly and it's pissing me off. I'll play for a bit, then all of the sudden it goes to the black scores screen and says it's looking for a host or staring game. It'll sit there for a 5-10 seconds and get back in the game and usually by then I've been killed.

NAT open, connection good and all that. Brand new netgear wndr3700 router with the plug and play thing enabled so unlikely I need to forward ports., 25+ Mbps download on time Warner's road runner turbo.

Any ideas?

Sounds like an Internet problem in your area. Like perhaps your connection slows down or something for the duration of your black screen. Either way, it sounds like you start to lag out (and that is when you go to black screen on your screen, but to everybody else you would be walking into a wall or something, so they kill you), but then your connection restores itself.

If it continuously happens for a few days, I'd call your ISP.

You're not Australian, poser.

OT: OP are you using Wifi or an Ethernet cable?

That's what I'm thinking. I've been in contact with them, and tonight the online tech said they fix a network issue and I should be good to go but it's still doing it.

I'm connected through ethernet cable. Looks like I need to talk to them again. I wonder if the modem is garbage. It's an arris thing that I'm not familiar with.

Get a better internet connection.

That seems like the popular thing to say with connection issues on here...original.

Fwiw, jitter is at 4ms, and ping varies from mid 20's to mid 30's

Well 343 haven't seemed to have any server problems as I've been okay... Not really sure what the problem is.

OP, when you're surfing the web, does your connection still go down then too? Like, will it sometimes eventually take 45-60 seconds for a page to load when ordinarily it just takes like 4 seconds?

Well I haven't surfed recently except to troubleshoot this problem. I want to say yes it does, but I haven't payed attention to it enough to recall.

I just replaced the netgear with a new one since the other one (3 weeks old) wouldn't power on after doing a power cycle, and I remember that I need to go back in and set NAT filtering to off, but that's irrelevant since I had it off on the other netgear and it still did it.

It was bad today. Every 5 min I was looking at the black scores screen as it said "starting game". I'm leaning towards the modem being inconsistent right now.
