Subject: Why were there not Heavy sentinels on Installation 04?

I am reffering to Two types of sentinels: Enforcers and Onyx Sentinels, why were they not used? was the structure of the ring too fragile for the powerfull blast of the Onyx type or was it just a plothole made by Eric.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

It's not a plothole by Eric. Frankly, we never saw everything that occurred on Installation 04. Installation 05 was in worse shape than 04, what with the Flood roaming for about 1,000 years. Enforcers would be needed. As for Onyx Sentinels, they are probably more powerful because of the importance of the Shield Worlds. they would house beings and thus need better protection than a weapon that requires a Forerunner or human to use.

They wouldn't be able to fit in the T&R (where the Proto-Gravemind was) or PoA? :P

Seriously, the Flood were feral and based on weaker life forms. Hardly a threat to a Forerunner. Guilty Spark recommended certain armor to Chief. If Chief had it then, he'd really be unstoppable.

Besides, Spark is apparently a lazy bastard. He possessed a powerful laser that could kill a combat form with 1 hit, mortally wound UNSC's finest, and take down Chief's shields, even a powerful force field, but never used either of them?!

Either that or collecting the Index from the Library is some sort of ritual in which he's forbidden to help... though I doubt Forerunners would treat the Flood threat like this.

But surely the defence of his ring was so important to him that he would have used any means of stopping chief from destroying his one and only care in the universe?

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

*facepalm*

Why else would they be called Onyx Sentinels if they were only made on Onyx? You can be sure those types of Sentinels are only on Shield World installations.

He did mention protocol dictated his actions. The destruction of the ring seemed to have accelerated his rampancy or perhaps, liberated him from his duties.

Or it could just be that he had finally found a new purpose that he was willing to take up and the prospect of losing it was too overwhelming to a robot with no purpose.

Because Bungie never created them till Halo 2.
