I've recently been inspired to imagine what the Elite homeworld of Sanghelios actually looks like. Having read some articles online and used my own imagination, I'm trying to produce at least two concept illustrations. More specifically, my focus has been on ancient Sanghelios and how its natural beauty may compare to Earth's.

I've finally finished the first one so here's the link and "inspiration description".
In the wild wetlands of Sanghelios it is possible, on the rarest of occasions, to see the three suns of the Elite homeworld in the sky.

Also, for any who may be interested, here's some very rough composition ideas which I used to arrive at the final design.

-Dead Orbit..

This is beautiful. it resembles concept art, but at the same time as a painting one would like to have on display.

Blessings upon you.

Try using a floating landmass system with bowls that draini in series above as source for fount. Have the world rings generate "rain" that sustain the reaction and flow. Have my son's star in place at generating source.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I like the brush strokes and general look of it.

That looks great! Are the flying creatures the creation of your imagination or were they already established?

I like your first preliminary image too, I think it has a more beautious natural feel to it because its brighter and calmer.

Thank you. Yes, the creatures were my own design. I wanted to have some bird-like/ flying things in there to help with scale and flow but obviously wanted to avoid just having traditional, Earthly birds.

I presume the sketch you're referring to is the top left one. I did like it and actually it was my main choice of design originally but I couldn't think of how to make it look unique and interesting so chose to go with something different.

Do you have a higher resolution version? I'd LOVE to use that as my Desktop wallpaper.

Truly incredible piece you have there! I especially like the different compositions you made to work out the final design of the landscape. Your colors flow so well and really compliment each other to create a strong sense of depth and atmosphere from a distance. That's one of the toughest things I've found when starting off a painting; colors too.

I would love to see more.

I do but the detail won't hold up. What I'd like to do is try enlarging it and polishing the whole thing even more. What sort of size would you need?

Many thanks for the other kind comments.

I need a picture frame. Great work here. Do you have a DeviantArt account for your other works?

More please.

How about homeworlds from the rest of the Covenant?

  • 06.15.2012 4:58 PM PDT

Please Sir, we want some more. I'd like to see one with ancient Sangheili discovering an old Forerunner tower, could you do that?
